Research Of The Advanced Seal Of Tubomachinery

The seal is mainly used between the rotating parts and fixed parts of a turbomachinery to minimize the leakage. As the design and producing technique of the main components of the turbomachinery more and more successfully developed, it is much easier and cheaper to improve the efficiency of the tubomachinery by improving the seal component than that by improving other components. The study of the seal component is important in the sense of the stability and the improving of the efficiency of the turbomachinery. By now, the honeycomb seal, brush seal and finger seal are three kinds of the most prospective seals. The jobs of this dissertation include the study of the design and manufacturing methods of these three kinds of seals, as well as the study of the seal performances.In the first place, the flow field visualization and leakage performance test-rig of honeycomb seal was established. The flow patterns of the vortex in the honeycomb seal cavity under different seal clearances were observed by using the smoke wire visualization method.
