Sealing is one of key components in rotating machinery. Leakage is the most common fault of rotating machinery in practice. Advanced sealing technology that could effectively restrain leakage of rotating machinery is the demand of engineering. The reasons that caused sealing leakage of rotating machinery were analysed Control technology and design proposal of sealing leakage for typical units were explored. Efficiency and reliability of design proposal were verified by engineering samples with demonstration significance. Structure design and engineering application of high performance sealing technology in rotating machinery is the core of this paper. The mayor works are as follows:①To solve sealing leakage of inflammable and explosive medium centrifugal compressors, engineering sample of safety honeycomb seal with explosion-proof were manufactured that could fulfill with requirements of engineering. Experimental tablet of sealing performance test was designed and checked for further studying sealing performance of safety honeycomb seal with explosion-proof and promoting engineering application.②To decrease high leakage rate of rotary air preheater, structure design of brush seal that could fulfill with sealing use requirements of air preheater was designed and optimized based on finite element method and fatigue design theory. Leakage rate of air preheater was successfully decreased by applying brush seal technology, and the leakage rate standard of enterprise was achieved.③To solve the internal leakage and outside leakage of large motor, the transformation schemes of bearing seal based on carbon sealing technology were separately designed. Bearing seal leakage of large motor was successfully controlled. To solve carbon sealing failure due to structure self-defects after long period operation, carbon sealing structure was optimized and the self-adaptive accommodation of sealing structure was achieved④To solve bearing box leakage of gas turbine, design scheme of gas seal and steam seal based on steel honeycomb seal were proposed and were successfully applied in engineering. To control shaft end sealing leakage of minitype steam turbine, the difficulty was solved that steel honeycomb seal is difficult to be applied in the units with small rotor diameter and high rotor speed, and steel honeycomb seal was successfully applied in minitype steam turbine.
