| Under the background of innovation-driven,enhancing regional innovation capability has become an important factor to promote the high-quality development of regional economy,and creating a good innovation ecosystem is an important carrier to enhance regional innovation capability.At present,the carrier efficiency of China’s innovation ecosystem is low,because only one type of innovation activity of exploratory or exploitative innovation is carried out in the regional innovation ecosystem,and the complementary advantages of ambidextrous innovation are not brought into play,resulting in the inability to share innovation resources such as technology and knowledge among innovation populations in real time.Based on organizational ambidexterity theory,only by carrying out autonomous and collaborative ambidextrous innovation in the innovation ecosystem can it help innovation populations to form a synergistic effect with spontaneous cooperation in the network,effectively promote the allocation of innovation resources and the exchange of materials,fundamentally improve the overall output efficiency of the innovation ecosystem.At the same time,the institutional environment is an important innovation environment in the process of multi-population cooperative innovation,and the enthusiasm of cooperation among innovation populations and the efficiency of innovation resource allocation need the guidance and support of the institutional environment.Based on this,it is of great significance to explore the influence of ambidextrous innovation on regional innovation capability in innovation ecosystem from the perspective of institutional environment,so as to improve the innovation efficiency of innovation ecosystem and enhance regional innovation capability.Based on innovation ecosystem theory,organizational ambidextrous theory and institutional theory,this study takes "concept definition and literature review-econometric model design-empirical test of the innovation effect of ambidextrous innovation in innovation ecosystems-policy recommendations" as the research context.Using the panel data of 31 provinces in China from 2009 to 2018,this study explores the influence mechanism of ambidextrous innovation in innovation ecosystems on regional innovation capability.On the basis of reviewing the related research theories on innovation ecosystem,ambidextrous innovation and regional innovation capability,this study identifies universities,research institutions and high-tech enterprises as the main clusters of ambidextrous innovation in innovation ecosystem,and clarifies that all types of innovation activities are influenced by institutional environment,which establishes the correlation between variables,and builds a theoretical model between "ambidextrous innovation,institutional environment and regional innovation capability in innovation ecosystem".In the empirical testing stage,first,the two-way fixed effect model is used to explore the mechanism of exploratory innovation,exploitative innovation and their interaction effects in innovation ecosystem on regional innovation capability,and then the moderating role of institutional environment in "ambidextrous innovation in innovation ecosystem-regional innovation capability" is tested.Finally,the heterogeneity test is carried out,and the influence of ambidextrous innovation on regional innovation capability in the innovation ecosystem of eastern,central and western regions,as well as the influence effect of ambidextrous innovation carried out by different innovation populations on regional innovation capability are deeply discussed.The research results show that: Firstly,exploitative innovation in innovation ecosystem has a significant positive impact on regional innovation capability.Secondly,there is a "U-shaped" between exploratory innovation in innovation ecosystem and regional innovation capability.Thirdly,the complementarity of exploratory innovation and exploitative innovation in innovation ecosystem positively affects regional innovation capability,and it will have an overall effect of "1+1 > 2" on the improvement of regional innovation capability.Finally,Institutional environment strengthens the positive correlation between exploitative innovation and regional innovation capability,but has no moderating effect between the exploratory innovation and regional innovation capability.The results of the heterogeneity test show that: firstly,there is some regional variability in the relationship between the ambidextrous innovation activities in innovation ecosystem and regional innovation capability.Secondly,there is no obvious difference in the influence of ambidextrous innovation activities carried out by different innovation populations on regional innovation capability.At last,based on the above findings,this study provides scientific and reasonable suggestions and basis for effectively promoting the ambidextrous innovation activities of each innovation population,and further promotes the regional innovation capability.The innovation and contribution of this paper are as follows: firstly,taking the innovation ecosystem composed of multiple populations as the research object,discussing ambidextrous innovation from the perspective of innovation ecosystem population,which not only enriches and expands the theoretical research on the relationship between ambidextrous innovation and regional innovation capability,but also provides beneficial policy enlightenment for how exploratory innovation and exploitative innovation with the relationship of unity of opposites exist and develop in the innovation ecosystem.Secondly,based on the perspective of institutional environment,the regulatory effect of institutional environment on the relationship between ambidextrous innovation and regional innovation capability in innovation ecosystem is deeply discussed,which not only demonstrates whether the current institutional environment can promote ambidextrous innovation of multi-innovation population,but also provides policy suggestions for our government to optimize the institutional environment in various regions. |
