With the acceleration of China’s urbanization process, people’s choices for tourist destinations are no longer solely based on natural scenery and cultural landmarks, but also encompass a desire for a comprehensive experience of the destination’s unique culture, local customs, and traditional cuisine. In this context, homestays have emerged as a popular accommodation option. The development of homestays not only revitalizes local idle resources and creates employment opportunities for residents but also enhances cultural dissemination and enriches the tourist experience. However, after experiencing explosive growth, homestay operations have also exposed many issues, such as uneven product quality, outdated facilities, lack of traditional culture, and improper environmental planning, which can subsequently affect the quality of the tourist experience. Therefore, improving the external environment and internal management of homestays not only meets the multi-level tourism needs of tourists but also promotes the sustainable development of homestays.Based on the theories of tourist experience and communication flow, this study takes homestays in the Lugu Lake area as a research case, and analyzes online comments of homestay tourists in the region using research methods such as literature research and network text analysis.First, the high-frequency words of experience perception were analyzed;second, the categories of tourist experience perception were constructed;third, the emotional evaluation of tourist experience was analyzed;and fourth, targeted countermeasures and suggestions were proposed. The research conclusions are as follows:(1)The content of tourist homestay experience perception includes environmental perception, room perception, and service perception, and the evaluation of tourist homestay experience perception includes positive emotions and negative emotions.Environmental perception consists of geographic location, transportation conditions, decoration style, and ancillary functional areas;room perception consists of room facilities and equipment, room cleanliness, room sound insulation, and room price;service perception consists of staff, basic services, and specialty services;emotional perception evaluation consists of positive emotions and negative emotions.(2)Tourists have differences in environmental perception, room perception, and service perception.Specifically,in environmental perception, the evaluation of geographic location is high, although ancillary functional areas are mentioned less, tourist comments show strong emotions and are all positive. The evaluation of transportation conditions is low,and the evaluation of decoration style is both positive and negative. In room perception, the evaluation of room facilities and equipment is mixed, the evaluation of room cleanliness is also mixed, the evaluation of room sound insulation is both positive and negative, and the evaluation of room price is also mixed. In service perception, the evaluation of staff is mixed, the evaluation of basic services is also mixed, while the evaluation of specialty services is high.(3)Tourists’ homestay experience evaluations are mainly positive, with relatively few negative emotions.Negative emotions are mainly manifested in environmental perception, involving transportation and decoration conditions;in room perception,it involves room facilities and equipment, room price, room cleanliness, and room sound insulation;in service perception,it involves staff and basic services.According to the research conclusion, the following countermeasures and suggestions are proposed:(1)Improve the environmental experience perception of homestays and pay attention to the construction of internal and external environments;(2)Improve the room experience perception and strive for balanced development of various functional areas;(3)Enhance comprehensive service capabilities and shape homestay branding;(4)Regulate tourists’ negative emotions and control the impact of negative emotions.
