| The integration of rural industries is an effective way to enrich the rural economy, promote the sustainable income of farmers, and help the comprehensive revitalization of the countryside and the common prosperity of farmers in rural areas. At present,China’s rural industrial integration is still in its initial stage, and in the context of rural revitalization strategy,it is especially necessary to analyze the effect of rural industrial integration development on farmers’ income increase.Especially for the southwest region of China, which is relatively backward in agriculture, there is an interactive and symbiotic relationship between the development of rural and agricultural industries and farmers’ income, and the development of rural industrial integration in the southwest region is beneficial to the prosperity of rural economy and the widening of farmers’ income space.Based on a systematic review of the literature on rural industrial integration development and farmers’ income increase at home and abroad, the paper defines the relevant concepts and constructs a theoretical framework of rural industrial integration development on farmers’ income increase by combining relevant theories.A comprehensive evaluation index system for the integrated development of rural industries in southwest China was constructed in terms of the integration path and the integration effect, and the entropy-weighted TOPSIS method was used to measure the level of integrated development of rural industries in southwest China from 2011 to 2020.A fixed-effects model was used to empirically test the effect of rural industrial integration development on farmers’ income, followed by a robustness test. The effect of rural industrial integration development on farmers’ income of different income groups was further investigated by quantile regression, and a cross-sectional comparison of the effect of rural industrial integration development on farmers’ income in various provinces and cities in southwest China was conducted using the gray correlation method. The study found that: 1)the overall level of rural industrial integration development in southwest China from 2011 to 2020 showed an upward trend, but there were regional differences. The highest level of rural industrial integration development is in Sichuan Province and Chongqing Municipality, followed by Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region,Guizhou Province and Yunnan Province.2)Rural industrial integration development in southwest China has a significant positive effect on farmers’ income, and the effect on the income increase of the middle and low income groups of farmers is more obvious, mainly through enhancing farmers’ operating income and transfer income to promote farmers’ income increase. In terms of other influencing factors, the level of regional economic development, the level of financial support for agriculture, the level of digital inclusive finance, rural human capital, and transportation accessibility also have significant positive effects on farmers’ income, while the level of agricultural mechanization does not have a significant effect on farmers’ income in southwest China.3)There is regional heterogeneity in the effect of the development of rural industrial integration on farmers’ income in southwest China’s provinces and cities, and the higher the degree of rural industrial integration The higher the degree of development of rural industrial integration, the more obvious its effect on farmers’ income increase.Based on this, this paper concludes by exploring the realistic path to promote the integrated development of rural industries in southwest China, with a view to providing useful reference for promoting the deep integrated development of rural industries in China in order to drive farmers’ income increase and realize the common prosperity of the whole country. |
