At present, the digital economy represented by the Internet, big data, artificial intelligence, blockchain, etc.has become a new driving force to promote high-quality development of China’s economy and promote Chinese path to modernization. At the same time,in the context of the national innovation-driven development strategy,China’s hightech economy is in the strategic transformation period from "imitation innovation" to "independent innovation",and is on the road of rejuvenation from "manufacturing power" to "innovation power".Under the new situation, the research on the path to improve the innovation performance of high-tech industries is undoubtedly crucial to both the high-tech industry itself and the high-quality development of China’s economy. In this context, this paper uses the panel data of 30 provinces and cities(autonomous regions)in China from2011 to 2020 to measure the impact of the digital economy on the innovation performance of high-tech industries.Firstly, the three core concepts of digital economy,high-tech industry, and innovation performance were introduced, and the Schumpeter innovation theory, data element value theory, and digital technology-economic paradigm theory were elaborated in detail, laying a theoretical foundation for the empirical analysis in the following text.Secondly,it describes the development status of the provincial digital economy and high-tech industry innovation in China. On this basis,it constructs the indicator system of the development level of the digital economy and the evaluation system of high-tech industry innovation performance, and uses the entropy method and the stochastic frontier model(SFA)to measure effectively.Thirdly, this paper theoretically explores the impact of digital economy on high-tech industry innovation and its threshold effect, and through the effective test of panel data, further uses the constructed panel regression model and threshold model to empirically test the basic impact and threshold effect of digital economy on high-tech industry innovation performance. Finally, based on theoretical and empirical analysis, targeted policy recommendations have been proposed from four aspects to accelerate the cultivation of new driving forces for the digital economy, promote market-oriented allocation of data elements, strengthen the digital empowerment of high-tech industries, and implement differentiated digital economy development strategies to help improve the innovation performance of high-tech industries under the digital economy. The research finds that:(1)digital economy has a significant promoting effect on the innovation performance of high-tech industries, and this promoting effect has the regional heterogeneity characteristic of "central>western>eastern";(2)The nonlinear spillover effect of digital economy promoting the innovation performance of high-tech industries shows an "inverted U" characteristic of first increasing and then decreasing.
