Research On The Influence Mechanism Of Boundary-Spanning Search And Resource Bricolage On The Performance Of New Technology Ventures

Driven by the combination of innovation-driven development strategy and mass entrepreneurship and innovation strategy,a large number of new technology ventures have emerged.China has become one of the most active regions in global innovation and entrepreneurship activities.New technology ventures have the main attributes of congenital innovation,knowledge and,technology-intensive show unique competitive advantages in technology research and development,product testing,and commercialization of initial products,making positive contributions to promoting social and economic development and industrial transformation and upgrading.However,compared with mature enterprises,new technology ventures are trapped in the natural constraints of "new entrants’ defects" and "weak defects".The key core technical barriers are low,the ability to resist environmental fluctuations is weak,and the awareness of risk prevention and control is poor.A large number of new technology ventures are difficult to cross death valley from 0 to 1.Therefore,how to break through the ice constraints has become the primary problem faced by most new technology ventures to successfully pass the start-up stage.Boundary-spanning search and resource bricolage are two important ways for new technology ventures to break through resource constraints,but at this stage,there is still a lack of theoretical exploration and evidence on the internal mechanism of the two driving the performance of new technology ventures.Based on the resource arrangement theory,paradox theory,and entrepreneurial opportunity theory,this paper,from the perspective of opportunity exploitation,construct mechanism model of the effect of boundary-spanning search and resource bricolage on the performance of new technology ventures,proposes and tests the mediating role of the two types of opportunity exploitation models of speed and quality in this process of influence,and the differential moderating role of ambidextrous leadership style.First of all,it combs the research status and relevant theoretical bases at home and abroad,such as boundary-spanning search,resource bricolage,opportunity exploitation,and ambidextrous leadership style,puts forward research assumptions,and constructs the theoretical model of this paper.Secondly,data collection was conducted using a questionnaire survey,and the empirical test of 303 sample data of new technology ventures from China was carried out with the help of statistical software SPSS and AMOS.The research shows that:(1)boundary-spanning search and resource bricolage both positively affect the performance of new technology ventures,and their effects on the performance of new technology venturess are complementary(2)Speed opportunity exploitation and quality opportunity exploitation have a positive impact on the performance of new technology ventures,and both play an mediating role in the process of boundary-spanning search and resource bricolage affecting the performance of new technology venture.At the same time,it is found that boundary-spanning search tends to quality opportunity exploitation model to obtain enterprise performance,while resource bricolage tends to speed opportunity exploitation model to obtain enterprise performance;(3)In the process of boundary-spanning search influencing the two modes of opportunity exploitation,transformational leadership style has played a differential moderating role and transactional leadership style has played a negative moderating role;On the contrary,in the process of resource bricolage affecting the two modes of opportunity exploitation,transactional leadership style played a differential moderating role,while moderating effect of transformational leadership style is not significant.The research conclusions provide matching theoretical guidance and targeted practical enlightenment for China’s new technology ventures to improve performance and carry out entrepreneurial activities,That is,new technology ventures need to build a resource arrangement mechanism of "internal and external training",and targeted matching of resource construction and opportunity exploitation activities;Leaders need to focus on cultivating diverse leadership thinking.In addition,the limitations of the study were discussed and future research prospecteded.
