The Impact Of Informatization On The Technological Complexity Of China’s Manufacturing Export And Its Regional Differences

At present,there is a "Low-Lock" phenomenon in China’s manufacturing industry,and the upgrading of export technology complexity is an important driving force to promote the high-quality development of China’s manufacturing industry.As a new source of export comparative advantage,informatization helps to expand the export scale of China’s manufacturing industry.However,there are obvious differences in the development of China’s manufacturing industry among regions.The development of informatization in line with local conditions is crucial to comprehensively enhance the export competitiveness of China’s manufacturing industry and reshape the competitive pattern of China’s manufacturing industry.Therefore,this paper attempts to deeply explore the relationship between informatization and manufacturing export technology complexity by using the provincial level data of China from 2013 to 2017.Different from previous studies,this paper focuses on the transmission mechanism of technological innovation as an intermediary variable.In addition,this paper focuses on the regional heterogeneity of the impact of informatization on the technological complexity of manufacturing export.The main conclusions are as follows:First,informatization has a positive effect on the technological complexity of China’s manufacturing export.Informatization promotes the positive interactive growth of supply and demand,makes informatization and industrialization complement each other,promotes the upgrading of the industrial structure of manufacturing industry,and enhances the competitive advantage of manufacturing export.The research results are still valid after considering the index selection and endogenous problems.Second,the mechanism test shows that technological innovation is an important channel for the development of information technology to promote the technological complexity of manufacturing export.The benign interaction between informatization and industrialization needs to be driven by technological innovation.The wide application of information technology can speed up the flow of elements needed by the production and operation of manufacturing enterprises,optimize the allocation of innovation elements,improve the technological innovation ability of manufacturing enterprises,and then promote the extension of manufacturing industry to the high end of the value chain.In addition,information,as a kind of factor input,follows the law of marginal decline,which makes the impact of informatization on the technological complexity of manufacturing export nonlinear.Thirdly,there is regional heterogeneity in the relationship between informatization and technological complexity of manufacturing export in eastern and central and western regions of China.The impact of informatization on the technological complexity of manufacturing export in the eastern and central and western regions of China is shown as nonlinear promotion and linear promotion.The difference of regional economic development will inevitably lead to the gap of information development level.The higher level of economic development in the eastern region of China has led to the rapid development of information technology.Some provinces in the eastern region have entered the information society,and the application of information technology to the technical complexity of local manufacturing export is gradually slowing down.However,due to the overall backward development of informatization in the western region,informatization is still an important driving force for the development of manufacturing industry in the western region.Therefore,in the process of promoting the development of information technology,we should pay attention to stimulating the potential of independent innovation of enterprises,and give play to the intermediary effect of technological innovation on the export competitiveness of manufacturing industry.At the same time,we should promote the informatization construction in the central and western regions,release the regional resource advantages,and enhance the export competitiveness of China’s manufacturing industry as a whole.
