At present,a new round of industrial transformation and technological innovation is emerging in China,and the wide attention paid to the application of digital technology provides the basis for the development of the digital economy.The development of digital economy will provide valuable opportunities for the growth of various industries in China,especially the development of manufacturing industry.With the emergence of emerging manufacturing models such as smart production and Internet collaborative production,manufacturing has become the main area in which the digital economy plays a role.There is a close relationship between the digital economy and the complexity of manufacturing export technology.However,the existing research on the digital economy and the complexity of manufacturing export technology is still less,the theoretical basis is relatively weak,and the impact of the digital economy on the integrity and depth of the complexity of manufacturing export technology is still insufficient.In view of the above,this paper will study the impact of the digital economy on the technological complexity of manufacturing exports in depth with theory,and further explore the relationship between the digital economy and the technological complexity of manufacturing exports through theoretical analysis and empirical test from the perspective of FDI.This paper will take China’s provincial data from 2013 to 2020 as a sample to study the relationship between the digital economy and the complexity of manufacturing export technology.First of all,analyze from a theoretical perspective,and clarify the internal logic of the impact of digital economy on the complexity of manufacturing export technology by combing the literature.Secondly,the principal component analysis method is used to construct an indicator system to measure the development level of digital economy and calculate the development index of digital economy in each province;According to the method of Hausman et al.,the export technology complexity of China’s manufacturing industries is calculated.Finally,we build a panel econometric model to empirically test the relationship between the digital economy and the complexity of manufacturing export technology,and establish a regulatory effect model to explore the role of FDI in the impact of the digital economy on the complexity of manufacturing export technology.The research results show that the digital economy has a positive and significant impact on the upgrading of manufacturing export technology complexity.The regulatory effect model test shows that FDI plays a positive regulatory role in the impact of the digital economy on the technical complexity of manufacturing exports,which proves that FDI can help the digital economy improve the technical complexity of manufacturing exports.This paper will put forward policy suggestions from promoting the coordinated development of the digital economy and improving the system construction.The state should attach importance to the infrastructure construction of the digital economy,improve relevant policies and systems,and adhere to the opening up.In order to promote the digitalization of manufacturing industry,realize the transformation and upgrading of manufacturing industry and the upgrading of manufacturing export technology complexity.
