Since China and Nigeria signed a trade agreement in 2001,trade between the two countries has grown steadily.Based on the mainstream theory of international trade, this paper analyzes the influencing factors and development potential of bilateral trade between China and Nigeria,in order to understand the development of bilateral trade and provide policy suggestions for the further development of bilateral trade. The research methods used in this article include literature research, comparative analysis, and empirical research.Chapter 1 clarifies the background and significance of the research, elaborates on the relevant research status in various countries, and proposes research content, methods, and innovative points.Chapter 2 elaborates on the basic concepts and theoretical basis of this study.Chapter 3 analyzes the current situation of trade development between China and Nigeria.Firstly,it analyzes the economic development status of Nigeria.Secondly,it analyzes the development process of trade between China and Nigeria.Secondly,it analyzes the scale and structure of trade development between China and Nigeria. Finally,it analyzes the competitiveness and complementarity of trade development between China and Nigeria. Finally,it summarizes the characteristics of bilateral trade development between China and Nigeria.Chapter 4 uses the time-varying stochastic frontier Gravity model and trade inefficiency model to analyze the influencing factors and trade potential of bilateral trade between China and Nigeria. This paper finds that the development of bilateral trade between China and Nigeria has strong complementarity. The main characteristics of bilateral trade development are:relatively large trade potential, unbalanced development of bilateral trade, and single product structure exported by Nigeria to China. The growth of per capita GDP in China and Nigeria has a significant positive impact on the growth of bilateral trade, and bilateral trade agreements and port infrastructure can promote the growth of trade between the two countries. The efficiency of China’s export trade to Nigeria is significantly higher than that of bilateral import and export trade. The bilateral trade between China and Nigeria has great potential for development and can be expanded.
