In the context of simultaneous advancement of manufacturing industrialization and servitization,manufacturing enterprises relying on superior manufacturing business to develop new services can alleviate the limitations of given product technology in solving customer problems,thereby creating greater value of supply and demand.Especially when products tend to be homogeneous,service innovation has become an important measure for manufacturing enterprises to achieve long-term natural binding with customers.However,service innovation still has direction and scope.Service innovation separated from product technology is prone to incur "service bubble",and manufacturing enterprises excessive service development will lead to the risk of service paradox.Therefore,manufacturing enterprises need to develop value-added services carried by product technology in the appropriate time.In order to achieve above goal,it is necessary to clarify the value creation mechanism of manufacturing enterprise service innovation under the given product technology(static)and its iteration(dynamic).Focusing on the above research question,theories and literatures related to technology innovation,service innovation and value co-creation provide guidance for this research.First,factors driving manufacturing enterprise service innovation are analyzed,the reasons for the limited carrying capacity of given product technology to service innovation are revealed,and the realization frames of manufacturing enterprise service innovation under given product technology and the integration of digital and product technology are constructed.Second,according to the matching characteristics of manufacturing enterprise given product technology life cycle and service innovation,a mathematical model that can reveal the value creation mechanism of manufacturing enterprise service innovation under the given product technology is constructed,aiming to clarify the reason why service innovation can prolong the given product technology market life.Last,taking the smart connected product formed by the integration of digital technology and product technology as an example,using dual case study,the value creation mechanism of manufacturing enterprise service innovation under the new product technology is revealed,and the differences in service innovation value creation before and after technology iteration are pointed out.The results are as follows:(1)Manufacturing enterprises can achieve greater value creation by dynamically adjusting service innovation strategy according to product technology evolution trend.Considering the limited capacity of given product technology to carry services,while manufacturing enterprises actively innovate services to create greater value,they need to develop/adopt new product technology in the appropriate time to avoid service paradox.Compared with traditional products,smart connected products under the integration of digital technology and product technology create opportunities for service innovation,but its value creation r ealization mechanism is significantly different from that before product technology iteration.(2)Under the given product technology,the supply and demand value created by service innovation presents an inverted U shape over time.Manufacturing enterprise service innovation can extend the product technology market life within the boundary.Otherwise,service innovation that exceeds the technology carrying capacity is easy to fall into the dilemma of service paradox,which hinders the supply and demand value creation.At the boundary,manufacturing enterprises should pay attention to the development/adoption of new product technology matched with advanced service.(3)Under the smart connected product technology,manufacturing enterprises service innovation takes data connection as the core.Smart connected products embedded in digital components are able to collect and process back-end usage data,which drives service innovation from four aspects: service business,process,interface and delivery.During this process,there are differences in types of digital platform and service innovation between industrial and consumer product manufacturing enterprises.But the fundamental purpose of service innovation for them is the same,providing customers with online and intelligent services that can respond to product failures and customer demands,so as to achieve supply and demand value co-creation.The research revealed the value creation mechanism of manufacturing enterprise service innovation under the static and dynamic conditions of product technology,which provides practical guidance for manufacturing enterprises the timing of new technology adoption and service adaptive innovation after adoption. |
