As China moves towards the stage of high-quality development,the country has continuously issued relevant documents supporting new retail,and consumers’ shopping demand has gradually increased.Many department stores have tried to enhance their competitiveness with new retail business models.Since the outbreak of the COVID-19,the proportion of traditional department stores carrying out online business has soared,accelerating the development of new retail models in the retail industry.Under the business background of new retail operation,department stores usually form a consumer-oriented deep collaborative new retail operation model through online and offline channel integration,digital management and accurate big data analysis.As an A-share listed department store enterprise that has deeply rooted in the retail industry in Hunan Province,FRIENDSHIP&APOLLO has chosen a new retail business model under the pressure of continuous expansion of its online retail share.First of all,this paper has sorted out the relevant documents of business efficiency,determined the research content,methods and framework of this paper,and made clear the evaluation methods and indicators of business efficiency based on which this study is based.Secondly,it briefly introduces the development process of FRIENDSHIP&APOLLO,summarizes the changes in operating measures of FRIENDSHIP&APOLLO and department stores,and discloses the operating conditions of FRIENDSHIP&APOLLO under the new retail background from three aspects of operating scale,operating input and operating effect by using the financial index analysis method.Thirdly,the data envelopment analysis(DEA)is used to evaluate the operating efficiency of FRIENDSHIP&APOLLO from the static and dynamic perspectives,and compared with the enterprises in the same industry of department stores.Finally,it summarizes the problems of poor resource coordination,insufficient profit and output,and poor technical ability of FRIENDSHIP&APOLLO,and puts forward targeted suggestions to improve business efficiency.Through research,we find that in the current situation of operation,there is a phenomenon that the proportion of asset investment is too large and the output at the market end is less,and the performance in short-term solvency,operating capacity and profitability is not as good as the average of department stores;In terms of static operating efficiency,the average value of FRIENDSHIP&APOLLO and department stores has declined during the measurement period,and the decline of FRIENDSHIP&APOLLO has been greater.The input redundancy and output insufficiency are mainly due to inventory and EVA;In terms of dynamic operating efficiency,FRIENDSHIP&APOLLO are "progressive",mainly due to the high technical progress index.At the same time,changes in pure technical efficiency have a greater negative impact on operating efficiency.Based on the above research and analysis,this paper finds that there may be the following problems in the operating efficiency of FRIENDSHIP&APOLLO: poor coordination of resources,weak profitability,and poor technical ability.Based on this,this paper puts forward corresponding suggestions to optimize resource investment,enhance profitability,and improve technology and management level.
