After decades of development, department stores in China has gradually matured to become one of the dominant format in Chinese market. With the rapid economic development and the improvement of people's living standards, differentiation and individuality have become the trends of modern department stores industry. However, at present, the homogenized operation of department stores is relatively common, it has seriously affected the development of China's department stores. In this paper, starting from the present status of the department store industry, the direct causes, indirect causes and intrinsic causes which result in the homogenized operation are analyzed. Quantities of literature studies and previous research outcomes were reviewed. The same time experts and authorities in this field were enquired. Systematic studies were carried out and conclusions were finally obtained based on theories and corresponding models. The contents not only concerns problems of intra-industry:the location of department store, commodity brands, marketing and the background management layer, but also involves the external industry and other components of the industrial chain:the laggard brand development in the upper-stream manufacturing industry, and excessive agent middlemen or channel intermediaries within the industry chain.Different from previous studies, this author analyzes not only the outside operational aspects of department stores, but also background supporting level such as institutional, operational concepts, information technology systems, operational processes and team management and personnel training. The irrational statubut of other sectors within the supply chain are also analyzed. The whole papers are written with more comprehensive angles and a more open field of vision.After the factors that affecting industrial competitiveness analyzed, the conclusion is obtained that:China's department stores industry have a certain competitive edge, but the differentiation competitiveness is still insufficient, which requires both the goods supply level and department store enterprises level working together to make up for. |
