The report to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China called for building a large, unified national market, deepening market-oriented reform of factors of production, and building a high-standard market system.Factors of production are the basic inputs needed by all economic activities and the important factors driving regional economic growth. In the geographical space, the characteristics of aggregation and dispersion of factors affect and reshape the regional economic pattern.Since the reform and opening up,the long-term rapid growth of Chinese economy depends on factor input, especially labor factor. However, the current economic growth has entered a stage of high-quality development, with labor cost rising sharply, demographic dividend gradually fading, and capital, science and technology factor input playing an increasingly prominent role in regional economic growth. In this new situation,we need to optimize the allocation of factors of production and increase their efficiency to shift the driving force of economic growth. At present, the principal contradiction of Chinese society is that between unbalanced and inadequate development and the people’s ever-growing needs for a better life, and the allocation of factors between urban and rural areas and between regions also presents a significant imbalance. For a long time, the regional strategy of giving priority to the development of the eastern coastal areas has accelerated the flow of labor, capital and other factors from the central and western regions into the eastern region, and produced agglomeration effect. The unbalanced allocation of factors among regions promotes the formation of unbalanced growth pattern of regional economy. The Yangtze River Delta is one of the most developed areas in our economy, and it is also one of the areas with the most unbalanced factor allocation and economic development level within the region. Therefore, this paper will take the Yangtze River Delta region as an example, based on the panel data of prefecture-level cities and above from 2006-2020 to discuss the impact of factor aggregation on regional economic growth from both theoretical and empirical perspectives, and propose relevant optimization policies,so as to provide feasible ideas for optimizing factor allocation in the Yangtze River Delta region and promoting sustainable regional economic growth.First of all, this paper reviews and reviews relevant literature at home and abroad, and defines core concepts such as factor aggregation and regional economic growth in combination with economic growth theory, location theory and basic principles of new economic geography. On this basis, the influence mechanism and process of factor aggregation on regional economic growth are constructed, and the theoretical analysis framework of this paper is proposed, and the research hypothesis of this paper is proposed.Secondly, according to the meaning of factor aggregation and regional economic growth, the research variables of factor aggregation and regional economic growth were set reasonably, and the Arc GIS10.8 software was used to visualize their spatial evolution, and the Theil index was further used to analyze the spatial polarization level of factor aggregation. The spatial and temporal evolution of factor aggregation and regional economic growth in the Yangtze River Delta is presented comprehensively. Finally, the paper empirically tests the influence and spatial effect of factor aggregation on economic growth in the Yangtze River Delta region, establishes the baseline panel regression model and introduces the quadratic term of factor aggregation degree to explore the existence of heterogeneity and nonlinear influence of different factor aggregation on regional economic growth in the Yangtze River Delta region. The Spatial Dubin Model was established to analyze the spatial effect of factor aggregation on regional economic growth in the Yangtze River Delta. The results showed that:(1)The aggregation of different factors and economic growth in the Yangtze River Delta presented heterogeneous characteristics. The concentration of labor factor, capital factor and regional economic growth showed a spatial trend of "high in the east and low in the west",while the concentration of land factor showed a spatial trend of "high in the middle and low in north and south regions",and the concentration of science and technology factor showed a dot distribution.(2)The aggregation of different factors has a heterogeneous effect on regional economic growth in the Yangtze River Delta.Land factor aggregation has a significant positive effect on regional economic growth, while science and technology aggregation has a negative effect on regional economic growth. There is an inverted U-shaped nonlinear relationship between capital factor aggregation and regional economic growth, but the curvature of the inverted U-shaped curve is relatively small.(3)There is a spatial spillover effect on regional economic growth in the Yangtze River Delta. The improvement of capital factor aggregation degree and land factor aggregation degree will not only promote the local economic growth, but also have a positive impact on the economic growth of surrounding areas through the spatial spillover effect.(4)The influence of factor aggregation on regional economic growth in the Yangtze River Delta has regional heterogeneity. In the core area of the Yangtze River Delta, capital factor aggregation has a positive promoting effect on the economic growth of the local and adjacent areas, while science and technology factor aggregation has a negative inhibiting effect. For the periphery of the Yangtze River Delta region, the accumulation of labor factors and capital factors has a positive promoting effect on the local economic growth, but it is not significant for the neighboring areas, while the accumulation of land factors has a positive promoting effect on the local and neighboring areas economic growth. |
