Since the reform and opening-up till the beginning of this century,China took an active part in the international industrial division.Owing to the comparative advantages, such as surplus labor, low labor cost and cheap energy resources,it had attracted foreign investments, stepped towards the international market, and developed labor-intensive industries vigorously, thus realizing the transformation from a low-income country to a middle-income country rapidly. But such fast transformation also gave rise to various problems, including high cost, huge energy consumption, low income, serious imbalance, etc. This paper mainly resolves three problems by focusing on the economic growth and its three driving forces of two provinces and one city in the Yangtze River Delta, namely the relationship between the three driving forces and the economic growth, what the core driving force of the economic growth is;and what the structure and hierarchy of the core driving force is.In the first chapter, theoretical research achievements in related fields obtained by domestic and foreign scholars are summarized with the theoretical analysis method.A theoretical platform is constructed for the following mathematical and empirical analysis.Furthermore, some applicable research methods are adopted, and related concepts are defined and explained necessarily. In the second chapter,it is the mathematical analysis.Based on the principle of dynamic correlation,a series of relevant indicators are calculated with substantial latest original data, using the data analysis method and quantitative analysis method within the scope of aggregate analysis.Meanwhile, research results are quantified by combining various charts,to distinguish the core driving force of two provinces and one city in the Yangtze River Delta, which lays a foundation for the following comparative research and empirical analysis. This part mainly solves the first and second problems, and draws several conclusions: the investment and trade growth fluctuate greatly, with a low stability in the relationship with the economic growth;and the core driving force is the consumption. In the third chapter,it is the empirical analysis.Within the scope of individual analysis, the following conclusions are reached with comparative research and quantitative analysis method: the trend where economic growth depends on the consumption is reflected by three aspects.Firstly, urban residents of all income levels prefer the consumption of educational and recreational articles, traffic communication, food and clothing to that of household items, medical care and residence.Secondly, urban residents of all income levels show less interest to residence, medical care and household items.Thirdly, rural residents tend to spend money on food, residence and traffic communication, which matches the top three items of consumption. In the fourth chapter,it is the suggestions proposed in accordance with conclusions of the second and third chapters, covering micro and macro aspects.Macrocountermeasures start from four perspectives, including the consumption, investment, trade and regional cooperation, while micro-countermeasures cover the traffic communication, recreational and educational articles, food and clothing. The last chapter draws conclusions and presents some prospects. The innovation of this article is,first of all, through the econometric analysis,it found out the core pulling power of economic growth in Yangtze river delta.Secondly,it is based on the comparative analysis of marginal propensity to consume, and found out consumption structure characteristics of seven major consumer goods from resident in the different income level in Yangtze river delta.Thirdly, according to the empirical results of this paper,it gives the policy suggestions starting from the macroscopic and microscopic within two aspects and a few perspective.
