On June 11,2015,the State Council issued "Opinions on Several Policy Measures to Vigorously Promote Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation",which proposed the concept of "mass entrepreneurship and innovation",encouraging entrepreneurship and forming a new trend of "innovation for all" and "innovation for all".The new trend of "innovation for all" is emerging.Especially after the 19 th National Congress made it clear that the central task of implementing the rural revitalization strategy is to promote farmers’ sustainable income and wealth, entrepreneurship is considered an effective way for farmers to increase their income. The State Council’s "Fourteenth Five-Year Plan for Digital Economy Development" clarifies that digitalization can effectively break the time and space barrier and increase the level of universality of limited resources, and is a key force in reorganizing factor resources and reshaping economic structure.2022 Central Document No.1 not only proposes to develop county rich industries, but also emphasizes that digitalization should be emphasized in rural revitalization work.empowerment and made special deployment for rural e-commerce and digital village construction. In this context, how to use digital technology to help farmers obtain the resources needed for entrepreneurship has become one of the urgent issues to be solved at present. The main research content of this paper is as follows:(1)Theoretical analysis and hypothesis formulation.Based on the literature review, the corresponding research hypotheses are proposed by combining the entrepreneurship foundation theory, resource foundation theory, social network theory and transitional economy theory.(2)Empirical study.Using the China Household Finance Survey(CHFS)data,we first construct a mixed cross-sectional ordered Probit model to analyze the relationship between the impact of digital technology on farmers’ entrepreneurial entry and exit and then conduct endogeneity tests and robustness tests to verify the robustness of the econometric model results. Then,we use the previous principal component analysis to construct six dimensions of social network indicators and market accessibility indicators to validate the transmission mechanism of digital technology on farmers’ entrepreneurial entry and exit. Finally, heterogeneity analysis is conducted in terms of both types of entrepreneurial entry and entrepreneurial exit.(3)Conclusion and countermeasure. The findings are summarized and constructive suggestions are made on how to promote farmers’ entrepreneurial entry and inhibit farmers’ entrepreneurial exit through digital technology. The main findings of this paper are as follows:(1)The use of digital technology facilitates farmers’ entrepreneurial entry and inhibits their entrepreneurial exit.Further, the marginal effect of digital technology on opportunity entrepreneurial entry is larger than that on livelihood, and it only inhibits passive entrepreneurial exit.(2)Digital technology facilitates farmer entrepreneurial entry by increasing geographic and financial market accessibility and expanding farmers’ social networks(except weak trust)across the board to access primary resources, with a masking effect of weak trust. That is,digital technology facilitates entrepreneurial entry by mediating mechanisms that increase the accessibility of geographic and financial markets on the one hand, and enhance all dimensions of social networks(except weak trust)on the other hand, changes that facilitate access to primary resources and thus the entry of farmers into entrepreneurship.(3)Digital technology inhibits farmers’ entrepreneurial exit by increasing geographic and financial market accessibility and expanding farmers’ structurally embedded social networks to access high-level resources. That is,digital technology inhibits entrepreneurial exit by mediating mechanisms that increase the accessibility of geographic and financial markets on the one hand, and enhance the dimensions of structurally embedded social networks on the other hand, changes that facilitate access to advanced resources and thus inhibit farmers’ entrepreneurial exit, except that weak trust does not have a mediating effect between digital technology and entrepreneurial exit. The management strategies proposed in this article in response to the research findings are as follows:(1)Vigorously improving the use of digital technology by farmers.Firstly, promote and improve the construction and upgrading of rural digital infrastructure.Secondly, improve the access of rural low-income groups to information and network equipment.Thirdly, improve farmers’ digital literacy and skills training to enhance their digital abilities.(2)Use digital technology to improve the reachability of rural markets.First, use digital technology to improve the reachability of rural financial markets.Second, use digital technology to improve the reachability of rural geographic markets.(3)Utilize digital technology to enhance various dimensions of social networks, especially to reconstruct trust mechanisms among weak relationship members.Firstly, building a rural digital platform effectively expands the social network of farmers.Secondly, within the village level,a structural embedded social network for expanding farmers is constructed through a digital platform for rural governance.Thirdly, strengthen internet authentication and management to enhance social trust.(4)Increase policy support for farmers’ entrepreneurship.
