Evaluation Study On Regional Competitiveness Of Yunnan Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry

Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)is the treasure of China and has played an important role in disease prevention and treatment and preventive health care for thousands of years.In recent years,TCM has attracted much attention globally,and the market and demand are expanding rapidly.Due to its unique geographical and climatic conditions,Yunnan ranks among the top in production and sales of TCM,and the TCM industry has become a pillar industry in Yunnan,with all states and cities in the province taking the development of TCM industry as an important grip to increase farmers’income and revitalize the countryside.However,Yunnan is a large province of Chinese herbal resources,but not a strong province of Chinese medicine industry,and the competitiveness of the industry is not strong.Each state and city in Yunnan has its own mode and direction of developing TCM industry,and the foothold and competitive advantage of TCM industry development are also different.Based on Porter’s"diamond model"theory,comparative advantage theory and resource endowment theory,this paper analyzes the current situation of the Chinese medicine industry in Yunnan Province and each state and city in three aspects:Chinese medicine cultivation,Chinese medicine industry and Chinese medicine distribution,and also analyzes the Chinese medicine industry in Yunnan based on SWOT.After two rounds of expert scoring,four primary indicators,including factor competitiveness,brand competitiveness,enterprise competitiveness,economic and policy environment,10secondary indicators and 14 tertiary indicators,were selected based on Porter’s Diamond Model.The evaluation index system for the competitiveness of Yunnan’s TCM industry was constructed by selecting four primary indicators,10 secondary indicators and 14tertiary indicators,including factor competitiveness,brand competitiveness,enterprise competitiveness,economic and policy environment.Combining the data on the development of the Chinese medicine industry in each state and city of Yunnan,a quantitative evaluation of the competitiveness of the Chinese medicine industry in each state and city was conducted using factor analysis,and the competitiveness of the Chinese medicine industry in each state and city was classified into four tiers of A~+,A,B,and C categories,and suggestions were made to improve the competitiveness of each tier.The paper concluded that Yunnan’s TCM industry has problems such as outstanding resource advantages but weak value transformation ability,low standardization,insufficient scientific and technological innovation,and lack of talents,which affect the competitiveness of Yunnan’s TCM industry.Finally,combining the problems of Yunnan’s TCM industry,the following suggestions are made:strengthen policy support and innovate industry management;create high-quality Yunnan medicines and improve standards comprehensively;improve the efficiency of product R&D and enhance talent and scientific innovation;promote the traceability system and reflect the value of benefits;improve the market system and create a digital information platform;promote industrial integration and create high-quality Chinese medicine health service industry;improve the service system and enhance industrial power;strengthen industry management and enhance the quality of entrepreneurs.
