| China is a big country in vegetable production and trade.Vegetables are an important side food second only to grain, and their export is of great significance to China’s agricultural products to earn foreign exchange and rural revitalization.China has become the third largest source of agricultural imports of the EU and has obvious export advantages, but due to the restrictions of technology, capital, policy and other factors, there is a certain degree of resistance to China’s vegetable exports to the EU.Therefore, under the current new situation and trade pattern, studying the influencing factors of China’s vegetable exports to the EU is of great practical significance for accurately grasping the EU vegetable trade market, promoting the earning of foreign exchange for China’s characteristic agricultural products, cultivating agricultural international cooperation, and accelerating the modernization of China’s agriculture and rural areas.Based on the theoretical analysis of China’s vegetable exports to the EU,this paper quantitatively analyzes the current situation of China’s vegetable exports to the EU,including the scale, commodity structure, market structure and development status of current policies of vegetable exports, and uses the international market share and the display comparative advantage index to analyze the competitiveness of vegetable exports from China and EU countries, and establishes a gravitational model, and empirically analyzes the factors influencing China’s exports to the EU through regression. Finally, combined with the current shortage of China’s vegetable production and export, this paper puts forward constructive countermeasures and suggestions. Results demonstrate that, initially, the scale of China’s vegetable exports to the EU fluctuates to a certain extent, the main export vegetable commodities are vinegar and other vegetable products and dried vegetables, the main export destinations are Germany,Italy, the Netherlands,Spain, the United Kingdom,France,Belgium, and the situation and policies facing vegetable exports are severe and changeable.Second,China’s vegetable exports have a high international market share, reflecting a strong international competitive advantage, followed by the Netherlands,Spain,Belgium and Italy and other countries have a high market share and comparative advantage. And the competitiveness of vegetable exports from France,Germany, the United Kingdom and Poland is below the world level.Third, the problems faced by China’s vegetable exports to the EU mainly include low added value of products, unreasonable commodity structure, excessive market concentration, and strict technical trade barriers.Fourth, the factors affecting China’s vegetable exports to the EU mainly come from four aspects:economic scale, market supply and demand, international environment and trade barriers.Specifically, the EU’s GDP level and population help promote China’s vegetable exports to the EU,but China’s population, per capita vegetable production in EU countries, the exchange rate of RMB and the proportion of fruits and vegetables in RASFF will limit China’s vegetable exports to the EU.In addition, due to the different types of various vegetables, their effects also vary. Finally, the policy recommendations put forward in this paper include improving the quality and international competitiveness of vegetables, branding strategy to increase product added value, improving market structure and optimizing industrial layout, improving vegetable supervision system to benchmark against international standards, and strengthening regional trade cooperation and exchanges. |
