At present, the Yangtze River Delta region has gradually embarked on the track of high-quality development, but the imbalance of internal development still exists, and the problem of urban-rural gap is the burning issue.Industrial structure is a major factor contribute to the income gap.It is greatly meaningful to study the rural-urban income disparity from the perspective of industrial structure optimization. At present, the Yangtze River Delta region is actively promoting regional integration, promoting the optimization of industrial structure is the key to achieve integration, but also related to the target addressing the city-countryside disparity. Therefore,it is necessary to study the relationship between the optimization of industrial structure and the income gap between cities and the countryside in the Yangtze River Delta. In addition, this paper attempts to refine the optimization of industrial structure into rationalization, upgrading and efficiency of industrial structure, hoping to reflect the optimization level of industrial structure from different dimensions,in order to more comprehensively study the influences of several roles within industrial structure changing on the rural-urban income disparity. After defining the concept of industrial structure optimization and urban-rural income gap, this paper expounds the theoretical analysis about industrial structure optimization influencing income disparity based on the relevant theories of industrial structure evolution and income distribution. Then it quantitatively describes the industrial structure and the evolution trend and current situation of rural-urban income disparity in the Yangtze River Delta from 2000 to 2019,and explains the mechanism of the optimization of industrial structure on the income gap in the region above, presents the basic assumptions of the paper. In the light of these analyses, choose the statistics between 2009 and 2019 of 41 cities in the Yangtze River Delta to study.Static and dynamic panel models are used to empirically analyze the impact of rationalization, upgrading and efficiency of industrial structure on the rural-urban income disparity in the Yangtze River Delta. The following conclusions can be drawn from the empirical results.(1)The rationalization, upgrading and efficiency of industrial structure in the Yangtze River Delta have a significant impact on the income gap,and the first two helps to improve earning inequality between the cities and the countryside, the upgrading one plays a greater role. The high efficiency of industrial structure is not conducive to narrowing the income disparity between rural-urban residents.(2)The rationalization of industrial structure in the central area can converge the city-countryside income disparity, the high efficiency of industrial structure can enlarge the city-countryside income disparity, but the effect of advanced industrial structure on the rural-urban income disparity is indeterminate. When the upgrading of industrial structure is defined by the specific value of the output value of the tertiary to the secondary industry,it can significantly narrow the rural-urban income disparity, which shows that the service-oriented trend has a higher correlation with the urban-rural disparity gap in the central area. The upgrading of industrial structure in non-central areas helps to improve the income inequalities between rural-urban residents, while the efficiency and rationalization of industrial structure play a limited role in alleviating the imbalance between cities and countryside.(3)Whether it is the raising level of economic growth, urbanization and financial development,or the boost on government expenditure and foreign direct investment,it will help to narrow the rural-urban income disparity in Yangtze Delta.(4)The change of income disparity between cities and countryside is dynamic and continuous, and the current period will be significantly affected by the previous period. Finally, based on the conclusions obtained in the theoretical and empirical study, some corresponding countermeasure are suggested to narrow the income disparity in the Yangtze River Delta from the angle of industrial structure optimization, hoping to provide reference for the formulation of relevant policies in this region.
