Research On The Influence Of Enterprise Digital Trasnsformation On Opperational Efficiency

Since 2020,the repeated delays of the COVID-19 pandemic have had a profound impact on the global economy and have also had a great impact on the development of China’s real economy.To effectively respond to the challenges brought about by the pandemic,more and more enterprises are using digital transformation as an important means to enhance market competitiveness and achieve sustainable development.Against this backdrop,it is important to explore whether digital transformation can become a significant driving force for improving operational efficiency in enterprises.Based on the theories of information asymmetry,transaction costs,and dual innovation,this study used data from listed companies in the Shanghai and Shenzhen markets between 2012 and 2021,and employed big data analysis techniques to depict the degree of digital transformation in enterprises.An empirical study was conducted to investigate the impact and mechanism of digital transformation on operational efficiency.The study found that digital transformation significantly improved operational efficiency,but short-sighted managers had a significant negative moderating effect on digital transformation’s impact on operational efficiency.This conclusion was still valid after robustness checks and endogeneity treatments.Furthermore,the study discovered that the promotion effect of digital transformation on operational efficiency was mainly achieved with the improvement of the level of internal control and innovation capability.The impact of enterprise digital transformation on operational efficiency demonstrated significant heterogeneity,with a more pronounced promotion effect in non-state-owned enterprises,enterprises in eastern regions,and high-tech enterprises.This study enriched the research on the economic consequences of enterprise digital transformation,expanded the research scope of factors affecting operational efficiency,and provided empirical evidence for a deeper understanding of the relationship between enterprise digital transformation and operational efficiency in the era of Industry 4.0.The study offers important insights for enterprises to take advantage of digital transformation opportunities to improve operational efficiency and achieve high-quality development.
