| The 20 th National Congress of the CPC pointed out the new mission of the CPC in the new era and new journey by summarizing the work of the past five years and interpreting the ten major changes in the new era.The conference report pointed out that in order to achieve coordinated development among various regions in China, the strategy of new urbanization should be implemented, fully reflecting the theme of new urbanization centered around people. The government should promote the absorption of agricultural transfer population in urban areas and attach importance to the potential for urbanization development in small and medium-sized county towns. As a key measure related to the common interests of urban and rural residents, new urbanization has once again attracted high attention from all sectors of the country.Since the implementation of the new urbanization strategy, the urban construction situation in China has significantly improved. As of the end of 2021,the urbanization rate of China’s population has reached64.7%.The 14 th Five Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development of the People’s Republic of China and the Outline of the Long Range Goals for 2035 also clearly point out that we need to optimize the strategy of new urbanization and firmly follow the path of new urbanization with Chinese characteristics. The construction of new urbanization attaches importance to the protection of farmers’ rights and interests, and promotes the optimization of the registered residence system and the popularization of social public services in a planned way,so that the rural population can better integrate into the urban family. In response to the significant income gap between urban and rural areas in the early stage of relatively single urbanization construction, increasing farmers’ income has also become a focus of the Party and government in recent years. In 2021,the per capita disposable income of rural residents in China reached 18930.9 yuan,a year-on-year increase of 10.5%.There has been significant progress in increasing farmers’ income, but there are still issues such as uneven regional development. The implementation of the new urbanization strategy has brought new opportunities for farmers to increase their income. This thesis studies the impact of new urbanization on farmers’ income in China, which can provide improvement suggestions for new urbanization and better solutions for increasing farmers’ income. This thesis studies the impact of new urbanization on farmers’ income in China. The thesis is divided into five parts. The first part of this thesis describes the research background, clarifies the significance of the research, and collates the latest academic research results from aspects such as the content of new urbanization, factors affecting farmers’ income, and the impact of urbanization on farmers’ income. Then,it explains the main research methods of this thesis. The innovation of this study includes two aspects:First, the new urbanization measurement index system is scientific and comprehensive.Referring to the National New Urbanization Plan, this thesis uses five primary indicators and 19 secondary indicators to establish a measurement system, including population, economic development, infrastructure, public services, and ecological environment. This thesis also calculates the new urbanization index through entropy method, making the research results more scientific and accurate; The second is to be more rigorous in data statistics. The current situation analysis and empirical analysis in this thesis are based on China’s urban and rural development data from 2013 to 2021,excluding relevant data before the introduction of new urbanization. The results of this study are more accurate and reliable than those of similar studies that extensively used data from prior to 2013.The second part explains in detail the concepts of research objects such as new urbanization and farmers’ income, and lists relevant theories explaining the impact of new urbanization on farmers’ income.Based on these concepts and theories, this thesis systematically analyzes the mechanism of the impact of new urbanization on farmers’ income. This thesis attempts to analyze the impact mechanism of new urbanization on farmers’ income from five aspects: population, economic development, infrastructure, public services, and ecological environment. The third part sets out from five aspects:population, economic development, infrastructure, public services, and ecological environment, establishes a new urbanization evaluation system, calculates the new urbanization index using entropy method, and analyzes the development status of China’s new urbanization and farmers’ income from 2013 to 2021 in terms of time and space. This part explains the impact relationship between new urbanization and farmers’ income from a macro perspective through current situation analysis. The fourth part collates the panel data of urban and rural development in various provinces of China from 2013 to2021,and establishes a fixed effect regression model. This thesis empirically analyzes the impact of new urbanization on farmers’ income in China, and specifically discusses the differences in the impact of new urbanization on farmers’ income under different circumstances. The fifth part, based on the results of this study and the actual situation of China’s new urbanization development, puts forward some effective policy recommendations for increasing farmers’ income. The main conclusions of the thesis are as follows:(1)On the whole,China’s new urbanization has a positive impact on farmers’ income, and the improvement of the level of new urbanization will significantly improve the income level of farmers.(2)From the perspective of regional differences, the new urbanization construction in eastern provinces has a greater impact on farmers’ income, while the central and western provinces have been less affected.(3)From the perspective of the construction of new urbanization, the improvement of population, economic development, infrastructure, and public service construction has a significant impact on farmers’ income, while the construction of new urbanization in the ecological environment has a small impact on farmers’ income.(4)From the perspective of farmers’ group differences, farmers with medium to high income levels have been greatly affected by the new urbanization, while farmers below the middle income level have been less affected. |
