The economy’s swift growth has brought about a dramatic improvement in people’s lives,yet the ever-increasing rivalry between social groups has also posed immense difficulties and strain to enterprise management and personnel in the workplace.As the lubricant of interpersonal relationships,leader humor is regarded as an effective management tool in the organization.Successful leaders often use humor to motivate their followers and gain support.In practice,how to fully tap and play the positive role of leader affiliative humor in the development of enterprises is what the organization really concerns.As a type of positive leader humor,leader affiliative humor is an effective tool for emotion management.It can not only stimulate the enthusiasm of employees,but also help them to better complete their work.Exploring the influence of leader affiliative humor on team effectiveness will help to explore the potential value of leader affiliative humor.Therefore,from the perspective of leadership behavior,this study explored the influence mechanism of leader affiliative humor on organizational citizenship behavior at the team level,which can not only enrich the relevant research at the team level,but also provide reasonable management suggestions for the organization to train leaders and prompt OCB in practice.Therefore,based on the motivated information processing model,this study examined the relationship between leader affiliative humor and team OCB via team prosocial motivation,where team collectivism was served as a moderator.This study collected the team leader-team member matching questionnaire at three time points with an interval of one month,and finally obtained 290 valid team leader-team member matching questionnaires,including 89 team leader questionnaires and 290 team employee questionnaires.The SPSS statistical analysis software was employed to analyze and test hypotheses,based on the questionnaire results and data collected.The primary findings of this research are:First,leader affiliative humor has a noteworthy beneficial effect on team prosocial motivation.Second,team prosocial motivation has a significant positive effect on team OCB.Third,team prosocial motivation mediates the relationship between leader affiliative humor and team OCB.Fourth,team collectivism moderates the indirect relationship between leader affiliative humor and team OCB via team prosocial motivation,such that the positive indirect relationship is stronger when team collectivism is high than it is low.This study proposed managerial suggestions for the organizations,and provided guidance for future research,as evidenced by the research conclusions.The theoretical contributions of this research mainly include the following aspects: First,in terms of the research lens,based on the motivated information processing model,this paper discusses the impact of leader affiliative humor on team OCB,which enriches the research perspective of the outcome variables of leader affiliative humor.Second,in terms of research level,this paper explored the influence of leader affiliative humor on team prosocial motivation and team OCB,and expanded the role of leader affiliative humor at the team level.Third,in terms of explanatory,it highlighted the role of team prosocial motivation as a bridge between leader affiliative humor and team OCB,and opened the “black box” in the process of their interaction.Fourth,in terms of boundary condition,team collectivism as the boundary condition for leader affiliative humor to play its role has been analyzed,and the problem of under what conditions leader affiliative humor is effective has been solved.
