In recent years, regional economic development has always been an important issue led by the government and related to the process of national prosperity and strength. It can be said that how to promote common prosperity through regional economic development has become the focus of current national development. This paper will study the interrelationship between regional economic development and common prosperity, with a view to revealing the links between the two sides, establishing a better feasible framework, and making relevant policy recommendations. This article first reviews relevant studies of regional economic development and shared prosperity at home and abroad, defines the connotation of regional economic development and the process of shared prosperity, and analyses the system theory of linking regional economic development and the process of shared prosperity in China, the theory of interconnection coordination and the theory of sustainable development. It then introduces China’s development profile from three aspects: regional economic development, ecological environment, and social development.Subsequently,31 indicators will be selected to establish an evaluation index system for the regional economic development and common prosperity process.Based on methods such as the linkage model, the Dagum gini coefficient and kernel density estimation,it will measure the level of interconnection between China’s regional economic development and the process of shared prosperity in 2009-2019.Study the characteristics of this spatial development and the mechanism of spatial impact and provide theoretical guidance and decision-making for the coordinated development of China’s regional economic development and common welfare process. The main findings of the article are as follows:(1)From 2009 to 2019,China’s level of regional economic development and overall the process of shared prosperity have improved significantly. In terms of time,China’s level of regional economic development has shown a steady upward trend, while China’s collective prosperity process has generally shown a growth trend, and there are also a small number of regions where the collective prosperity process has receded; In terms of the spatial dimension, the characteristics of the spatial distribution of China’s regional economic development generally show the trend of high coastal areas and low inland cities. The characteristics of the spatial distribution of the common welfare process are high in developed provinces and cities and low in inland provinces.Among them, the Yangtze River’s average river gradually narrows the gap with the developed regions, while the yellow River’s average river growth is relatively slow.(2)From 2009 to 2019,the degree of interconnection between regional economic development and the common prosperity process of the various provinces and cities of China was in principle at a high level of interconnection. The regional economic system of China’s various provinces and cities is closely linked to the common welfare system, and the overall level of interconnection and coordination between the two systems is increasing. In most areas, the level of coordination and integration of regional economic development and the common welfare process has successfully increased. The degree of interconnection and coordination of the eight economic regions shows the trend of development on the eastern coast>north coast>south coast>central Yangtze River>central Yellow River>south-west>north-east>north-west.From the perspective of the spatial model, linking regional economic development and shared prosperity and a coordinated development process in China is East-West and South-North.In terms of spatial differences, there are some differences in the level of connectivity and coordination between regions. The degree of territorial integration and degree of coordination of regional economic development and the process of shared prosperity are important spatial indicators of strong and weak clustering.(3)The level of linkage and coordination between the national system of regional economic development and the common prosperity process is basically stable in the regional country over the study period, with small fluctuations, mainly due to differences between regions, and different regions display different degrees of coordinated development for economic geographic and other reasons, and the level of coordinated development varies between regions for economic geographic and other reasons, with some differences due to regional differences. The overall level of divergence is gradually decreasing. |
