Under the realistic background of China’s digital economy,knowledge economy,innovation-driven development strategy,and information construction of defense military industry,the digital transformation in the field of defense military industry is accelerating,and a new industrial system with data as the core driving factor is gradually taking shape.As the backbone of national defense scientific research tasks,the digital construction process and innovation capability development of military enterprises are closely related to economic construction and national defense security.While knowledge resources,as the core resources for military enterprises to clarify strategic orientation and implement decision-making behaviors,are the basis for innovative activities of enterprises.Therefore,from the perspective of knowledge absorption capacity,studying the influence of the digitalization level of military enterprises on their innovation capability not only helps to enrich the influence path of digitalization on enterprise innovation but also helps to provide empirical guidance and countermeasure suggestions for digital construction of military enterprises.Based on Organizational Change Theory and Absorptive Capacity Theory,this paper empirically analyzes the influence relationship between the digitalization level and innovation capability of military enterprises and the mediating effect of potential absorptive capacity and realized absorptive capacity between the two,using the data of 384 A-share listed military enterprises from 2015-2021 as research samples.Meanwhile,the study also comparatively analyzes the heterogeneous effects from two perspectives of internal enterprise characteristics,including the executive equity incentives and industry attributes,and the regional external environment,including the regional economic environment and industrial structure optimization,on the relationship between digitalization and innovation capability.The results show that(1)the digitalization level of military enterprises positively contributes to innovation capability.(2)The digitalization level of military enterprises contributes positively to potential and realistic absorptive capacity.(3)The potential and the realized absorptive capacity of military enterprises positively contribute to innovation capability.(4)Both potential and realized absorptive capacity of military enterprises mediate digitalization level and innovation capacity.(5)Executive equity incentives negatively moderate the role of digitalization in military enterprises to enhance innovation capability,and the digitalization enhancement of labor-intensive military enterprises can more effectively improve the innovation capability of enterprises,followed by capital-intensive military enterprises and the weakest technology-intensive military enterprises.(6)The degree of advanced regional industrial structure negatively regulates the role of digitalization in improving the innovation capability of military enterprises,and the digitalization of military enterprises in the eastern and central regions can more effectively improve the innovation capability of enterprises.The study recommends that government should promote the digitalization of military enterprises with policy guidance,rationalize the layout of regional innovation resources,and explore the development path of regional innovation according to local conditions.In addition,military enterprises should promote the digitalization of enterprises by thinking and acting,strengthen the absorptive capacity of enterprises with multiple measures,and pay attention to the internal governance of enterprises by pushing forward. |
