| With the continuous development and popularization of information technology, the digital economy has become an important component of the global economy. In China, the digital economy has become one of the important engines driving economic development. As one of the most developed economic regions in China, the importance of the digital economy in the economic development of the Yangtze River Delta region is self-evident.Therefore,in-depth research on the impact mechanism between the digital economy and industrial transformation and upgrading in the Yangtze River Delta region has significant theoretical and practical significance for the future development path of the region, and can also provide development samples for other regions of China. This paper first summarizes the interaction mechanism between the two from a theoretical perspective by reading literature and sorting out relevant theories, and puts forward hypotheses that there is indeed some kind of mutual influence mechanism between the digital economy and industrial transformation and upgrading, and there is also mutual influence between the subsystems of the digital economy and industrial transformation and upgrading. Then, based on panel data from 41 prefecture-level cities in the Yangtze River Delta region from 2011 to 2019,the comprehensive development level of the digital economy is calculated using principal component analysis from five levels: internet penetration rate,internet-related employees,internet-related output, mobile internet users, and development of digital inclusive finance. The level of industrial transformation and upgrading is obtained from two perspectives:rationalization and high-level development, using the entropy method, and the results are further explored from a spatiotemporal evolution perspective. Then,a mediation effect model is established to analyze the causal relationship between the two,and a PVAR model is established to gradually explore the dynamic interaction between the digital economy and industrial transformation and upgrading through system GMM,Granger causality test, impulse response, and variance decomposition. Finally, based on the system GMM and Granger causality test, the mutual driving effect between the subsystems of the digital economy and industrial transformation and upgrading is analyzed. The research conclusion of this article is that the development of the digital economy has a dynamic driving effect on industrial transformation and upgrading. This effect is initially negative, but gradually decreases over time, and ultimately transforms into a positive effect; In addition, the impact of the digital economy on the transformation and upgrading of industrial structure has a time lag, that is,the impact of the digital economy will change over time;At the same time, the impact of the digital economy on the transformation and upgrading of industrial structure also has a positive sustainability, that is,the impact of the digital economy will continue to drive the transformation and upgrading of industrial structure. And industrial transformation and upgrading also have a positive and gradually weakening driving effect on the digital economy, and the impact of the two is not equal. The impact of the digital economy on industrial transformation and upgrading is weaker than the impact of industrial transformation and upgrading on the digital economy. There are differences in the interaction effects between the digital economy and the subsystems of industrial transformation and upgrading.Specifically, the rationalization of industrial structure has a positive and significant impact on the level of the digital economy in the early stages, while the upgrading of industrial structure has a relatively weak impact on the digital economy; On the other hand, the digital economy will have a weaker impact on the early stage of industrial structure rationalization, while the level of industrial structure upgrading will be stronger and more sustainable. |
