| Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, through the formulation and implementation of a series of major regional strategies,China has achieved a historic leap in economic strength and become the world’s second largest economy, becoming the main engine of global growth. In particular, under the pressure of century-old changes in the world and century-old epidemics in recent years,China, with its strong economic resilience, has effectively maintained stable economic growth against the backdrop of great changes in the global economy, and scientific and technological innovation has provided an important driving force for economic resilience. The report to the 20 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China put forward the following proposals: “We will thoroughly implement the innovationdriven strategy, improve the system of scientific and technological innovation, and uphold the core role of innovation in China’s overall modernization drive.”It is clear that effectively leveraging the innovation-driven role and improving regional economic resilience on the new journey to comprehensively build a modern socialist country are essential for China’s economy to make progress while maintaining stability and achieve long-term growth. In fact, scientific and technological innovation, due to its geographical agglomeration,is spatially represented by different innovation spatial structures.Based on the logical paradigm of“behavior--structure – function”,a reasonable innovation spatial structure will provide structural support for scientific and technological innovation, thus injecting new impetus to the improvement of economic resilience. Therefore, based on the perspective of spatial structure, this paper measures the spatial structure index of innovation and economic resilience of 23 provinces in China from 2000 to 2020,and makes a descriptive analysis of the spatial and temporal characteristics of the two.It further constructs the basic theoretical framework of the influence of innovation spatial structure on economic resilience, expounds the possible influencing mechanism, and proposes the research hypothesis of this paper. Finally, with the help of static panel model, mediating effect model and moderating effect model,we empirically test the effects of innovation spatial structure on economic resilience, and investigate the mediating effect and moderating effect in the process of innovation spatial structure affecting economic resilience. The conclusions are as follows:(1)From the perspective of spatial and temporal evolution, during the sample period, the single-center structure of innovation in Jilin,Heilongjiang,Hubei,Sichuan,Guizhou,Yunnan,Shaanxi,Gansu and Ningxia is more obvious, while the other provinces are more inclined to the multi-center spatial structure of innovation. At the same time,Inner Mongolia,Heilongjiang,Anhui,Fujian,Jiangxi,Shandong,Hunan,Sichuan,Guizhou and Shaanxi showed a higher level of economic resilience. The synergistic relationship between the two can be seen from the evolution trend. In most provinces, the spatial structure of innovation single center is negatively correlated with economic resilience, while the spatial structure of innovation multi-center is positively correlated with economic resilience.(2)In terms of impact effects, the spatial structure of innovation single center inhibits the improvement of economic resilience through island effect, while the spatial structure of innovation multi-center promotes the improvement of economic resilience through network effects and synergies. In addition, different implementation methods of innovation polycentric model have different impacts on economic resilience. With the increase of the degree of polycentric model, the promoting effect of polycentric model on economic resilience will be enhanced.(3)In terms of influencing mechanism, innovation spatial structure affects the improvement of economic resilience through industrialization and household consumption level, innovation single-center spatial structure reduces the level of industrialization and household consumption, and thus inhibits the improvement of economic resilience, while innovation multi-center spatial structure promotes the improvement of economic resilience by improving the level of industrialization and household consumption. In addition, the gap in human capital structure has a positive moderating effect on the relationship between innovation spatial structure and economic resilience. In the case of innovation single-center spatial structure, the gap in human capital structure further strengthens its inhibiting effect on economic resilience, while in the case of innovation multi-center spatial structure, the gap in human capital structure further strengthens its promoting effect on economic resilience. And with the improvement of the level of multi-center,this positive moderating effect is gradually enhanced.Based on this, this paper puts forward the following suggestions:(1)Adhere to the new development concept of “innovation + coordination”,pay attention to the impact of regional innovation spatial structure on economic resilience, and promote the multicenter development of provincial innovation spatial structure.(2)Establish a backup mechanism to promote innovation in secondary central cities, moderately strengthen environmental regulation intensity in peripheral cities with innovative development potential, and back-up force enterprises and local governments to strengthen scientific and technological innovation.(3)unblocking the transmission path of innovation multicenter spatial structure to enhance economic resilience and promote new industrialization; To stimulate household consumption and drive economic development. |
