Characteristics Of China-EU Agricultural Trade Network And The Measurement And Influencing Factors Of Competitiveness

The formal signing of the agreement on Geographical Indications and the stable operation of China-EU Freight trains have provided policy support for strengthening trade links between China and the European Union in agricultural products.However,while China’s trade in agricultural products with the EU is growing,China’s trade deficit in agricultural products with the EU is also growing.And due to the China-US trade dispute and the COVID-19 pandemic,such deficit may continue to grow,adversely affecting China’s agricultural trade competitiveness.The application of social network analysis method not only provides a new tool and method for the study of China-EU agricultural trade,but also provides a new dimension of reference for the measurement of existing competitiveness indicators,which is of great significance to enrich the theoretical study of China-EU agricultural trade and accelerate the promotion of China’s agricultural modernization.After collecting and collating agricultural export trade data of 28 countries in China and the European Union,descriptive analysis was conducted on the overall characteristics and individual characteristics of China-EU agricultural trade network in 1999,2004,2009,2014 and 2019 with the help of social network analysis method and UCINET software.It was found that:(1)There are widespread trade exchanges between China and EU,and there are many two-way exports.The overall trade cooperation relationship is rich and stable.(2)China’s status and trade competitiveness in the trade network are better than Cyprus,Slovakia,Malta,etc.,and worse than the Netherlands,Germany,Italy,etc..China is in a marginal position on the whole,and its agricultural trade competitiveness needs to be further strengthened.Then,based on the relevant data from 2002 to 2018,a two-way fixed panel model was constructed to conduct an empirical study on the influencing factors of China-EU agricultural trade competitiveness.The results show that The Worldwide Governance Indicators,Agricultural Gross Product and Trade Openness have a significant and stable positive impact on a country’s agricultural trade competitiveness.Accordingly,It is necessary to enhance the competitiveness of China’s agricultural trade by improving the level of government governance,perfecting the legal system construction of agricultural products and strengthening regional cooperation of agricultural products.
