Research On The Impact Of Digital Economy Development Efficiency On Urban-rural Income Gap

With the rapid progress of the Internet and the r adical revolution in the era of information and communi cation,digital econom y has played an important role in the growth of national econom y,and countries also regard the digital econom y as a key factor in enhancing competitiveness.With the enhancement of China’s economic strength,the digital econom y is gr aduall y integrating with various fields.Under the background that China’s econom y has entered the new normal,but urban and rural development remains uneven,exploring the impact of the development efficiency of digital econom y on the urban-rural income gap is of great significance for improving the qualit y of China’s digital econom y and reducing the urban-rural income gap.This paper focuses on the impact of the development efficiency of digital econom y on the urban-rural income gap.First of all,it anal yzes the mechanism of the digital economy on the urban-rural income gap from the theoretical level,and anal yzes the characteristics of th em from the national and regional perspectives.Secondly,the three-stage DEA model is used to measure the digital econom y development efficiency of 30 provinces(cities)in China from2005 to 2020.Then,the s ystem generalized moment estimation(s ys-gmm)method is used to stud y the impact of digital economic development efficiency on urban-rural income gap.In addition,considering th at econonmic development is spatiall y dependen t and clustered,the spatial econometric model is further used to test the spatial spillover effect of digital economic development efficiency on urban-rural income gap,and the areal heterogeneit y is deepl y anal yzed.The results suggest that one of vital elemens affecting the change of urban-rural income gap is the development efficiency of digital econom y.There is a certain d ynamic relation and mechanism of action between them.Improving the development efficiency of digital econom y is conducive to decreasing the urban-rural income gap.Through the spatial spillover effect te st,the article finds that the urban-rural income gap has notable spatial autocorrelation,and the direct effect and spatial spillover effect of the development efficiency of digital econom y on the urban-rural income gap are significantl y negative.This shows that the improvement of the development efficiency of the digital econom y can not only decrease the urban-rural income gap in this region,but also can effectivel y promote the reduction of the urban-rural income gap in neighboring provinces(cities).From the perspective of subregions,the improvement of digital econom y development efficiency in a province(cit y)in the eastern region is conducive to the reduction of the local urban-rural income gap,but has no significant impact on the change of the urban-rural income gap in neighboring provinces(cities);The improvement of digital econom y development efficiency in a provi nce(cit y)in Central China has no significant impact on the change of the local urban-rural income gap,but it will lead to the rise of the urban-rural income gap in neighboring provinces(cities);The improvement of digital econom y development efficiency in a province(cit y)in the western region has played a positive role in reducing the urban-rural income gap between the local and neighboring provinces(cities).Finally,combined with the research conclusion,the paper proposes some suggestions and countermeasures,in order to provide feasible suggestions for the efficient and high-qualit y development of digital economy and the reduction of urban-rural income gap in China.
