Abstract/Summary:
In the era of knowledge economy,team has become an important form of work organization,and with the emphasis on self-worth,narcissistic personality traits are more and more common among people.However,there is still a lack of research on the influence of narcissistic traits and proportion of team members on knowledge sharing.In order to improve the level of team knowledge sharing,it is necessary to study this.Based on self-enhancement theory,self-determination theory and communication adaptation theory,this study develops a hypothetical model of team members’ narcissism degree and proportion on knowledge sharing by sorting out studies related to narcissistic personality traits and knowledge sharing.An empirical analysis was conducted through an experimental method to explore the effects of team members’ narcissism degree and proportion on knowledge sharing.The research finally draws the following important conclusions:(1)individuals with high degree of narcissism have more knowledge sharing behaviors and less knowledge receiving behaviors;Individuals with low levels of narcissism have less knowledge sharing behaviors and more knowledge receiving behaviors.(2)The narcissistic traits of other team members moderated the effects of individual narcissistic traits on knowledge sharing;For people with high narcissistic personality traits,the higher the narcissistic composition ratio of team members,the less knowledge-sharing behavior and the less knowledge-receiving behavior;For people with low narcissistic personality traits,the higher the narcissistic composition ratio of team members,the knowledge sharing behavior showed a trend of increasing first and then decreasing.(3)The degree and proportion of narcissism of team members have an impact on knowledge sharing behavior in the organization.Team members with both high and low narcissism share knowledge more efficiently than those with only high narcissism or only low narcissism.The level of knowledge sharing was higher when the number of high narcissistic members in the team was less than the number of low narcissistic members,and the highest level of knowledge sharing in the team was achieved when 33%of the members in the team were high narcissistic.The above conclusions provide a basis for medium-sized team building.
