With the steady progress of science and technology,the "internet plus"approach has breathed new life into the economy,with the platform playing an enormous role in this growth.As such,academia and business circles alike are discussing ways to facilitate efficient,high-quality,and high-profile value creation through the platform.However,existing research often focuses on the static stages of platform-led enterprise value creation and neglects the dynamic development process.Meanwhile,the sharing economy utilizes platforms to balance and optimize distributed resources,sparking widespread discussions about the empowering activities of platform-based enterprises.Unfortunately,existing research primarily tackles the single dimension of empowerment,with only few discussions broaching the integration of the platform,empowerment,and value co-creation.To address the gaps in existing research,this article selected two influential platform-based enterprises in the traditional service industry and obtained data through semi-structured interviews,on-site observation,and secondary materials.Through three stages of coding analysis,the article summarized their successful practices,dividing the case enterprise’s development process into three stages and identifying the participants in each.The study analyzed the platform’s capability,empowerment process,and value creation,following a logical chain that links enterprise capability to the value creation process.Values are categorized into social,use,and economic value for discussion,with an emphasis on the interaction between enterprises,customers,and platform ecosystem participants from a collective perspective.Regarding the creation process,the article focused on empowering technology,data,and customers.Finally,the article summarizes the evolution path of platform-based enterprise resource aggregation capabilities as follows:resource integration capability,resource optimization capability,and resource openness capability.The path to self-improvement is achieved through digitalization,intelligence,and ecology,while empowerment activities follow a linear,collaborative,and ecological path.The interaction path between value subjects is classified as one-dimensional,two-dimensional,and multidimensional interaction.Ultimately,this article develops a path model for platform-based enterprises to empower traditional service industries and achieve value co-creation.Research Findings:①This research indicates that the external perception ability of platform-based enterprises can enhance the platform’s strength.②As enablers,platform-based enterprises provide favorable development conditions for other entities,facilitating value co-creation.The study aligns with the theory of value co-creation,which emphasizes the components of value(content),common(participants),and creation(process),as proposed by Jian Zhaoquan(2016)and others.Additionally,It detailed how empowerment and value co-creation lead to a spiral development process,with both elements mutually integrated.This study extends the understanding of theories such as platform-based enterprises,empowerment,and value co-creation,and offers actionable insights for participants in the platform ecosystem seeking to maintain a competitive edge.
