Infrastructure has become an increasingly inseparable living foundation of rural peoples’ daily life.Studying the impact of various types of infrastructure on economic growth in rural areas is instrumental to raising the efficiency of infrastructure allocation and it is of great significance to increase farmers’ income.According to the research achievement of local scholars, this paper selects the panel data of 31 provinces(cities and districts)from 2000 to 2019,and constructs the fixed-effect model for the empirical test from the overall, regional, and phased levels to explore the impact of rural infrastructure on rural economic growth. At the same time, the threshold model is constructed to test the threshold effect of various types of rural infrastructure on rural economic growth. The conclusions are as follows:By analyzing the regression results of the fixed-effect model,on the whole, farmland water conservancy, electric power, and information network infrastructure have significant indigenous effects on rural economic growth, while transportation infrastructure has a lag effect on economic growth,so the impact on rural economic growth is not significant. From the empirical results of the fixed effect model in the eastern, central, and western regions,it can be seen that for the eastern region, increasing investment in transportation, electricity, and information network infrastructure has a significant indigenous promoting effect on rural economic growth, while farmland water conservancy infrastructure construction has no significant indigenous effect on rural economic growth in the eastern region. For the central region, the input of transportation, farmland water conservancy, and power infrastructure has a significant indigenous promoting effect on rural economic income, while the construction of information network infrastructure has no significant indigenous effect on rural economic income. For the western region, the input of transportation and information network infrastructure has a significant indigenous promoting effect on the rural economy in the western region, while the construction of farmland water conservancy and power infrastructure has no significant indigenous effect on the income increase of the rural economy.According to the phased empirical results, irrigation and water conservancy facilities had no significant indigenous effect on rural economic growth before 2008,but had a significant positive effect on rural economic growth after 2008 as input increased;power infrastructure has a significant positive effect on rural economic growth around 2008,and with the increase of investment, the positive effect is gradually enhanced. The impact of information network infrastructure on rural economic growth is the largest, consistent with the overall sample regression results, and increased significantly with investment in the two periods around2008.From the results of threshold regression, farmland water conservancy infrastructure has a significant and indigenous promoting effect on rural economic growth. When it crosses a single threshold value of 5.8727,the promoting effect of continuous increase in investment on rural economic growth is weakened to a certain extent.Electricity infrastructure has a significant promoting effect on rural economic growth, and when it crosses a single threshold of 5.7568,the positive effect of the continuous increase in electricity infrastructure investment will decrease. There is a double threshold effect of information network infrastructure on rural economic growth, and the threshold values are 4.2376 and 4.7091.The two thresholds divide the investment of information network infrastructure into three intervals. On the whole, increasing the investment in information network infrastructure has a positive effect on economic growth. With the continuous improvement of investment levels, the promotion of rural economic growth is increasing. The transportation infrastructure is relatively stable, and there is no obvious threshold effect. |
