| Since the reform and opening up,China’s economic development has made great progress, but the phenomenon of economic differences between regions has gradually become one of the problems of China’s regional coordinated development. The past study on the problem for the regional economic disparities in more concentrated in the eastern, central and western, with the development of society and economy, regional economy in our country started the new development trend,to the south of the Yangtze river delta, the pearl river delta as a representative of the regional economic growth is strong, and the north of the slowdown in the regional economic growth, and even parts of the phenomenon of economic stagnation.A scientific and reasonable analysis of the economic differences between north and South is an important link in the process of promoting China’s common prosperity.Firstly, this paper makes a comparative analysis of the economic development of north and south China from 2000 to 2019,and uses statistical tools such as Theil index, coefficient of variation and weighted coefficient of variation to objectively and accurately measure the economic differences between north and south China. The measurement results show that the north-south economy began to diverge since around 2008,and there has been a significant difference between the two since 2012.The economic development of the southern region has gradually surpassed that of the northern region, and the difference between the two is getting bigger and bigger.Using qualitative comparative analysis method, this paper analyzes the economic development level of 31 provinces and cities in China, and measures the influencing factors of the north-south economy from five aspects: innovation, marketization process, capital, industrial structure and foreign trade. The results show that innovation, marketization process and foreign trade are the core conditions that affect the economic development of north and south China.Capital and industrial structure are marginal conditions. There are three paths to north-south economic growth, and two paths to north-south economic growth.Among the core factors of the growth path, the development level of the southern region is higher than that of the northern region, which is the fundamental reason for the economic difference between north and south.Among the marginal conditions, the human capital and foreign trade level of south are higher than that of north.Although the per capita fixed capital in the north is higher than that in the south, the high per capita capital stock will actually hinder the economic development under the low development of core conditions, and further lead to the development difference between north and south. Finally, according to the research results, this paper puts forward targeted policy suggestions to promote the coordinated economic development of north and south China. |
