In the post-epidemic era,the forms and styles of entrepreneurial activities have evolved.Informal entrepreneurial activities such as sideline or part-time entrepreneurship play an important role in alleviating social employment pressure and bridging the income gap of workers, and may evolve into formal forms of entrepreneurship as a stable main occupation. However, there is limited research on informal entrepreneurship in the existing literature, and even less research focusing on strategic choices in informal entrepreneurial contexts. The choice of a firm’s strategic orientation is an important factor influencing firm performance, but the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation as a classical entrepreneurial strategic orientation and entrepreneurial performance has not reached to consistent conclusions.Early-stage entrepreneurial organizations have disadvantages in resources and legitimacy, and it is difficult to effectively implement entrepreneurial-oriented strategies. Therefore,it has certain theoretical significance to study the impact of strategic choices on entrepreneurial performance in this context.Creative combination and utilization of resources is an important condition for superior organizational performance, and resource mobilization provides an effective path for organizations in the early stages of entrepreneurship to acquire and allocate resources.Based on this, this study introduces resource mobilization as a mediating variable. At the same time, entrepreneurial team governance improves entrepreneurial performance by promoting teamwork. In the early stage of entrepreneurship, informal governance of organizations often precedes formal governance. This paper studies informal governance as a moderating variable between strategic orientation and entrepreneurial performance.Based on the above analysis, this study proposes a new entrepreneurial strategy—informal entrepreneurial orientation by sorting out the characteristics and principles of informal entrepreneurship. And based on the theory of resource orchestration and entrepreneurial process, this study introduces resource mobilization and informal governance to explore the relationship between informal entrepreneurial orientation and entrepreneurial performance. The theoretical model of "informal entrepreneurial orientation→resource mobilization →entrepreneurial performance" is developed to study the mechanism of informal entrepreneurial orientation on entrepreneurial performance in the context of informal entrepreneurship, with a view to providing guidance for organizations in the informal entrepreneurial stage to improve their entrepreneurial success.Through the empirical testing of 251 valid data, the findings show that informal entrepreneurial orientation has a positive impact on entrepreneurial performance, resource arousal and resource collection play a chain mediating role in the relationship between informal entrepreneurial orientation and entrepreneurial performance. Moreover, informal governance not only positively promotes the influence of informal entrepreneurial orientation on entrepreneurial performance, but also positively moderates the influence of informal entrepreneurial orientation on resource collection. However, the moderating effect of informal governance on the relationship between informal entrepreneurial orientation and resource arousal was not significant. The findings of the study further improve the theoretical system of entrepreneurial strategy, expand the strategic decision-making space of start-up stage entrepreneurial organizations, and clarify the specific role of resource management and team governance activities for early-stage entrepreneurial teams.
