Study On The Impact Of Income Level On Grain Consumption Of Urban Residents

Food is the strategic material of the country.Food security is an important national policy of a populous country.The country has always focused on food production and consumption.With the rapid development of social economy,the consumption of many commodities will be improved,and grain consumption will be paid more and more attention.However,the impact of income on food consumption is different under different social structures.At present,China’s urbanization level is constantly improving.Under this background,evaluating the impact of income level on food consumption has important reference value for national food security and Rural Revitalization decision-making.According to the food consumption of residents,this paper constructs three indicators:direct food consumption,indirect food consumption and comprehensive food consumption.Using the income and food consumption data of urban residents in Jilin Province from 1994 to2019,this paper divides it into two stages with the same cycle with 2006 as the critical value,and establishes an econometric model to measure the impact of income on three caliber food consumption from the two stages.Through the research,this paper draws the following conclusions:(1)in the first stage(1994-2006),when residents’ income is at a low level,the increase of income level has a positive and significant impact on Residents’ direct grain consumption;It has a positive and significant impact on indirect grain consumption;Grain consumption has a significant positive impact.(2)In the second stage(2007-2019),when residents’ income is at a high level,the increase of income level has a negative and significant impact on Residents’ direct grain consumption;It has a positive and significant impact on indirect grain consumption;It has a positive and significant impact on the total grain consumption.(3)The urbanization rate only has a significant impact on the total grain consumption in the first stage and the second stage.In view of the above research conclusions,this paper puts forward the following three suggestions:first,continuously improve residents’ income level,stimulate residents’ consumption potential and promote residents’ food consumption.Second,reasonably improve the food consumption structure of residents,balance the consumption of animal food and plant food,and promote healthy eating methods and culture.Third,maintain steady growth in grain production.Combine nutrition with production,give consideration to the safety of feed and other grains on the premise of ensuring the safety of main grains,and maintain the stability of grain supply and demand.Strive to develop the level of science and technology,reasonably improve the variety structure,strive to build agricultural production facilities,and improve the country’s comprehensive grain productivity.
