With the continuous development of information and communication technology, digital trade based on the digital economy has also developed rapidly.Digital trade is the product of the deep integration of digital technology and traditional trade, and it is a new type of trade. Its appearance has brought new changes to the trade methods and industrial scale of various industries, and promoted the development of global trade. In addition, manufacturing industry plays an important role in the national economy. At present,China is in the status of a manufacturing power, and the situation of "big but not strong" in China’s manufacturing industry still exists. It has always been in the middle and low-end position of the global value chain division of labor, and there is still a big gap with "manufacturing power".In addition, under the situation that the demographic dividend is gradually disappearing, the double impact of developed countries on the "high-end return" of China’s manufacturing industry and the "low-end diversion" of new industrialized countries to China’s manufacturing industry has forced China’s manufacturing industry to be in the global value chain further improvement. In the context of the digital economy, digital trade continues to be deeply integrated with the manufacturing industry.Digital trade can optimize the industrial structure of the manufacturing industry, promote the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry, and then change the position of the manufacturing industry in the global value chain. This thesis studies the impact mechanism of digital trade on the status of the country’s manufacturing global value chain, and empirically analyzes whether digital trade affects the manufacturing global value chain and puts forward corresponding countermeasures. In order to study the impact of digital trade on the position of the country’s manufacturing global value chain, this thesis firstly uses China’s input-output database from 2000 to 2014 to calculate the global value chain position index of each sector of the country’s manufacturing industry, and then uses UNCTAD-related data to conduct digital trade.measure.This study analyzes the influence mechanism of digital trade on the position of the manufacturing global value chain from a theoretical perspective, and on this basis, uses the multiple regression analysis method, and uses the STATA 15.0 software on the impact of digital trade on the position of the manufacturing global value chain and the channels of influence conduct empirical research. The empirical results show that digital trade can promote the promotion of global value chain status. This study examines the impact mechanism and finds that digital trade can affect the position of manufacturing GVCs through production cost effects and technological innovation effects. In the empirical analysis, this study conducts heterogeneity test and robustness test. The results show that digital trade promotes the status of labor, capital and technology-intensive manufacturing global value chains to varying degrees, and digital trade has a stable role in promoting the status of manufacturing global value chains. This study shows that digital trade will have an impact on the position of China’s manufacturing industry in the global value chain and proposes the following ways to promote the transformation and upgrading of manufacturing industry: We will actively and orderly raise the level of openness to digital trade, encourage independent innovation, increase investment in digital trade infrastructure and technological innovation, and encourage the deep integration of digital trade with various industries, and continuously enhance the position of China’s manufacturing industry in the global value chain.
