Abstract/Summary:
In recent years,as the internet has grown in popularity and smartphones have become more widely used,we have found greater ease in our everyday online shopping,which has aided the growth of e-commerce platforms.Pinduoduo,the e-commerce industry’s dark horse,has surpassed Alibaba to become China’s largest e-commerce platform in terms of user base,with 876.3 million annual active users as of November 26,2021.Using Pinduoduo as a case study,it can provide some reference significance for the study of the e-commerce industry.The Harvard Analytical Framework is a method for conducting financial analysis that is both professional and systematic.Unlike traditional financial analysis approaches,the framework examines a company’s financial status in four modules: strategy,accounting,finance,and outlook,bridging the gap between quantitative analysis based purely on financial data.However,Pinduoduo’s financial analysis is currently focused primarily on the company’s internal financial information,ignoring external aspects like as the macro environment.Using the Harvard analytical framework,we present a detailed assessment of the company’s financial status in this article.To begin,the SWOT model is used to systematically analyze Pinduoduo’s strategic situation and choose the most advantageous strategic direction for itself;then,evaluate whether Pinduoduo’s accounting policies are reasonable and whether the accounting estimates are appropriate to verify the accuracy and validity of the company’s financial data;finally,the Du Pont analysis is used to make an overall analysis of the enterprise’s operation,and the compass is used to determine the most favorable strategic direction for itself.The next stage was to utilize Du Pont analysis to assess the overall business position and to compare Pinduoduo’s individual financial indicators to those of its competitors.We studied the e-commerce market and Pinduoduo’s development prospects,as well as the price-to-net ratio and the Metcalfe model,in order to determine the company’s future development trajectory and potential for sustainable growth.The research results show that although Pinduoduo has continued to lose money and make poor profits in recent years,it also faces with risk challenges such as poor product quality,lack of logistics and a single source of revenue,the research findings show that the company still has good growth prospects,and its location advantage is expected to open up new opportunities.To boost the company’s market competitiveness and support healthy,long-term growth,Pinduoduo must now control marketing expenses and raise investment in technological research and development.As a result,it is envisaged that an increasing number of businesses would use the Harvard analytical framework to improve their financial analysis and management efficiency,thereby providing some reference value for future research.
