Abstract/Summary:
Since the reform and opening up,China has been smoothly embedded in the global value chain division of labor system by virtue of its labor force and resource advantages,and achieved the miracle of exit growth,which is an important driving force behind which comes precisely from the manufacturing industry as the core industry.However,China’s manufacturing industry has been lagging behind compared to developed countries,so we should promote the optimization and upgrading of manufacturing industry as soon as possible.China’s economic development has been better for several years,and the scale of the home market has been growing.Whether China’s large and growing home market can promote the transformation and upgrading of manufacturing industries and the quality of export products is a question that needs to be answered by academics and policy makers.In this context,this paper systematically studies the impact mechanism of home market demand on the quality of manufacturing export products in theory,and empirically studies the manufacturing industry level in China,and finally puts forward policy recommendations.This paper firstly sorts out the relevant theories of the home market demand on the quality of export products.On the basis of the existing research,this paper analyzes the influence mechanism of home market demand on the quality of export products from the aspects of technological innovation mechanism and foreign direct investment mechanism.The increase in home market demand induces technological innovation,which provides an endogenous direct driving force for the improvement of export product quality;the increase in home market demand attracts foreign direct investment,which provides an exogenous indirect driving force for the improvement of export product quality.Secondly,based on the theory of heterogeneous firm,this paper introduces the home market demand,constructs a theoretical model of the influence of home market demand on the quality of export products,and proves that the increase of home market demand promotes the improvement of export product quality.Thirdly,this paper measures China’s home market demand and the quality of export products of the manufacturing industry,and finds that the home market demand at the national level and the industry level maintains a trend of rapid growth,and the quality of China’s export products fluctuates and has a further downward trend.At the industry level,the product quality of high technology industries is higher than that of medium and low technology industries,and there are differences in product quality between subsectors.Then,this paper regresses export product quality as the explanatory variable,and the regression results show that home market demand has a positive role in promoting the improvement of export product quality of China’s manufacturing industry,and for industries with different technology intensity,the home market demand on export product quality.For different technology-intensive industries,the impact of home market demand on export product quality shows large industrial differences.Finally,the paper uses the interaction term model to analyze the transmission mechanism.Based on the research in this paper,this paper argues that China should take advantage of the mega market to vigorously improve the export product quality of high-tech industries,continue to consolidate the original labor force advantage,make full use of foreign direct investment and accelerate technological upgrading,so as to promote the improvement of export product quality.
