The Influence Of Urban Agglomeration Development On Industrial Structure Optimization

With the advancement of China’s urban construction,the level of urbanization is ris ing,and the development has entered a new situation,that is,group development in the form of urban agglomeration,which is conducive to the establishment of a new regional development pattern,the development of urban agglomeration as a new growth point to smooth the domestic cycle,promote the domestic and international double cycle.The development of urban agglo meration can form scale economy in a larger scope,exert spatial spillover effect and optimize resource allocation,and promote the optimization and adjustment of industrial structure of cities in urban agglomeration.However,like the development of urban agglomeration in China,the research on the promoting effect of urban agglomeration development on the optimization and adjustment of industrial structure is still in its infancy.In this paper,the dual difference method is used to empirically test the relationship between urban agglomeration development and industrial structure optimization in horizontal regional d imension and vertical time dimens ion,taking different cities joining urban agglomeration at different times as "quasi-natural experiment".In order to further analyze the mechanism of action,from the perspective of industrial division of labor,based on Marshall externalities and Jacobian externalities,the industrial d ivis ion of labor is divided into specialization and diversification,and whether the development of urban agglomeration can promote the optimization of industrial structure through specialization or divers ification.In addition,the development coordination of ten urban agglomerations is quantitatively measured according to the three criteria of coordinated development of urban agglomerations,so as to study the development stages of ten urban agglomerations as a whole and four regional urban agglomerations in the east,middle,west and northeast.On this basis,the heterogeneity of the impact of urban agglomeration development on industrial structure optimization in four regions is studied.In addition to the heterogeneity of the four regions,the heterogeneity of central city and peripheral city in urban agglomeration is also studied based on the urban development gradient theory.The results are as follows :(1)urban agglomeration development has a significant role in promoting the optimization of industrial structure,and this conclusion is still valid after a series of robustness tests.(2)From the perspective of industrial divis ion of labor,it is found that urban agglomeration development promotes industrial structure optimization by promoting d iversified division of labor rather than specialized divis ion of labor.(3)The development of urban agglomerations in d ifferent regions has different promoting effects on the optimization of industrial structure.Compared with western c ities and northeastern cities,eastern cities and central cities can gain more benefits from the development of urban agglomerations,and the development of eastern urban agglomerations has a stronger promoting effect on the optimization of industrial structure.In addition,because the return effect of central cities is greater than the diffusion effect,urban agglomeration development has a stronger promoting effect on the industrial structure optimization of central cities than peripheral cities.
