Export trade has always been an important force driving the national economy.Although China’s total export volume is large, among the products exported, there are few products with high added value and high technology content, which is a practical problem that has been troubled for a long time. Therefore, exploring how to improve the technical complexity of exports will help China become a trading power. At present, the construction of digital infrastructure occupies an important position in the national strategic development. The country has successively issued a series of policies aimed at strengthening the construction of digital information infrastructure,so as to provide strong support for economic development. As an important engine of social and economic transformation, whether digital infrastructure can enhance the technical complexity of China’s exports, and what is the mechanism of action.By studying this problem,it can provide some reference for the construction of the support system of export trade. In this context, this thesis is mainly based on the United Nations Commodity Trade Statistics Database, the China Customs Import and Export Statistics Database, the World Bank Database, the China Statistical Yearbook, the Provincial Statistical Yearbooks, etc.,using empirical analysis methods to explore digital infrastructure.Impact on the technical complexity of exports. In terms of data processing, for the calculation of digital infrastructure,we obtained six indicator data of 30 provinces in China from 2009 to 2019,namely,the number of Internet broadband access ports, the length of optical cable lines, the capacity of mobile phone switches, the number of domain names,The number of computers used by enterprises per 100 people, the penetration rate of telephones, and the entropy method are used to calculate the comprehensive score of digital infrastructure,so as to measure the development level of digital infrastructure. For the calculation of the technical complexity of exports, first, based on the country name, the United Nations Commodity Trade Statistics Database and the World Bank database were matched to obtain sample data of 135 countries to calculate the technical complexity of product exports. After processing the data, the technical complexity of product export is weighted by the proportion of each province’s product export value and total export value, and the total export technical complexity of Chinese provinces from 2009 to 2019 is obtained. In empirical analysis, firstly, descriptive statistics and multicollinearity tests are carried out on the regression samples, and then the fixed effect model is used to empirically analyze the impact of digital infrastructure on the technical complexity of exports. The robustness of the research results is verified by two methods, including regression after calculation and replacement of digital infrastructure metrics;in addition, for the treatment of endogeneity problems, the digital infrastructure with a lag period is used as an instrumental variable for regression, and the results are still robust..Secondly,it studies the mechanism of digital infrastructure affecting the technical complexity of exports, verifies the mediating role of the flow of innovation factors, and conducts regional heterogeneity analysis. Finally, based on the regression results, the research conclusions, countermeasures and suggestions and research prospects are obtained. The research results show that: in terms of characteristic facts,in general, the level of digital infrastructure and the technological sophistication of exports are increasing, but the gap between regions is large. In terms of benchmark regression, digital infrastructure significantly promotes the improvement of export technology complexity;in terms of mechanism analysis, digital infrastructure promotes the improvement of export technology complexity through innovation capital flow and innovation personnel flow;in terms of heterogeneity analysis In general, the promotion effect of digital infrastructure on the technical complexity of exports has regional differences.Digital infrastructure has a greater effect on improving the technical complexity of exports in the central and western regions, and less in the east.As far as the endogeneity discussion is concerned, this thesis uses a fixed effect model to solve the problem of missing variables, and uses one lag period as an instrumental variable regression to solve the problem of mutual causality, which has passed the test.To sum up,it is recommended to further strengthen the construction of digital infrastructure, especially in the central and western regions, which will help increase the technical complexity of China’s overall export and narrow regional differences;pay attention to the application of digital infrastructure, and pay attention to the application of digital infrastructure.Data security is protected;it promotes the market-oriented reform of factors, promotes the full flow of innovation factors, and encourages innovative behaviors, thereby promoting the production of more high-tech export products and promoting the increase in the technical complexity of China’s exports.
