Abstract/Summary:
Climate change, high resource consumption, ecological damage, and carbon emissions are becoming increasingly serious, and it is essential to address environmental issues and promote green and low-carbon economic transformation. With the announcement of"peak CO~2emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by2060",a new situation of"carbon peaking ang carbon neutrality"is opened, and more and more enterprises take the synergistic development of environment, economy and society as their ultimate goal. The ultimate goal of the company is the synergistic development of environment, economy and society.Green entrepreneurship is seen as a"panacea"that can meet the synergistic development of environment, economy and society at the same time.Compared with industrial enterprises, agriculture has become the largest source of pollution in China, and according to the United Nations climate department, the agricultural industry may become one of the world’s largest sources of greenhouse gas emissions in 2050.In a period of time in the future,China’s agricultural development mode of reliance on energy and other factors of production will remain high, agricultural energy consumption and the pressure to control the total amount of carbon emissions, agricultural carbon emissions reduction is not optimistic. Therefore,it is urgent for agricultural enterprises to make green and low-carbon transformation.Scholars generally agree that green entrepreneurship is an entrepreneurial activity that combines both corporate entrepreneurship and sustainable development, and is an important strategy for achieving corporate sustainability goals. Therefore, green entrepreneurship orientation, which focuses on green innovation behaviors, proactively grasps green market opportunities, and dares to take risky actions,is regarded as a valuable intangible resource for enterprises, which forms a useful complement to traditional corporate entrepreneurship and provides an important support for sustainable development of enterprises. In recent years, studies on green entrepreneurial orientation have mostly focused on the financial performance and competitive advantage of enterprises, and the investigation subjects are mostly manufacturing industries, with both positive and negative findings. However, there is a lack of in-depth exploration on how green entrepreneurial orientation affects sustainable performance of agribusiness.Increasingly, firms see green intellectual capital as an important means to obtain sustainable performance.According to intellectual capital theory, knowledge is an important intangible resource for the survival of an enterprise, and intellectual capital is a collection of all intangible assets such as knowledge and capabilities, which play an important role in the survival and development of an enterprise.Chen(2008)combined intellectual capital with the concept of environmental protection and proposed the concept of green intellectual capital.Green intellectual capital is the sum of knowledge, skills, experience and abilities of an enterprise that is both environmental protection, green and intellectual capital, and is mainly composed of three parts Green intellectual capital can improve a company’s responsiveness to environmental protection issues, help a company gain a first-mover advantage and quickly occupy the market, and is an important way for a company to obtain sustainable performance. In addition, environmental dynamics is an important variable that affects the business status and profitability improvement of a company, and the success or failure of a company mostly depends on its ability to seize and act on opportunities. In addition, agribusinesses are more sensitive to external environmental responses, but less attention has been paid to this in existing studies.Based on this, this paper firstly compares the classical literature on green entrepreneurial orientation, green intellectual capital, environmental dynamics and sustainable performance of agribusiness, and gives definitions.Secondly, the idea of cultivating green intellectual capital is proposed and the corresponding model and hypothesis are constructed. Then, the content validity of the questionnaire is improved by inviting experts,semi-structured interviews and pre-research,and finally the model and hypotheses are validated with the help of statistical analysis software such as SPSS.The conclusions are as follows:First, green entrepreneurship orientation is a strategic posture regarding green development, which aims to reduce pollution, control and manage environmentally friendly products and thus positively contribute to sustainable performance, while green innovation, green initiative and green risk-taking also have significant positive effects on sustainable(environmental, economic and social)performance of agribusiness.Second, green intellectual capital partially mediates the relationship between green entrepreneurial orientation and sustainable agribusiness performance.Third, environmental dynamism has a positive moderating effect between green intellectual capital and sustainable agribusiness performance. The theoretical and practical contributions of this study are as follows.Theoretically, first, there have been two contradictory views in academia and industry regarding green entrepreneurship-oriented strategies. One part believes that green-related costs and expenses can overburden and thin the profits of a company, which can adversely affect its short-term profitability. The other part believes that green entrepreneurial orientation can reduce long-term operational risks, enhance corporate image, accumulate a stable customer base, and help companies build a good reputation, which in turn improves corporate performance.Based on this, this study will focus on the sustainable performance brought by green entrepreneurial orientation to provide empirical support for the positive assertion between green entrepreneurial orientation and sustainable performance of agribusiness.Secondly, based on intellectual capital and dynamic capability theory, this paper introduces green intellectual capital as a mediating variable and environmental dynamics as a moderating variable to further explore the impact of green entrepreneurial orientation on sustainable performance of agricultural enterprises through green intellectual capital, clarify its path mechanism, and make up for the existing research deficiencies. In practice, first, managers should take green entrepreneurship as a strategic orientation to reduce pollution, secure ecological products, and ensure their sustainable development by minimizing energy use and waste.Second, given the strategic impact of green entrepreneurship orientation, green intellectual capital and environmental dynamics on sustainable performance of agribusiness, enterprises must recognize the scientific nature of this theoretical framework, pay attention to the cultivation of green intellectual capital, accelerate the filling of knowledge gaps, effectively guide agribusiness green entrepreneurship, accelerate agribusiness green low-carbon transformation, promote agribusiness carbon sequestration and efficiency, and achieve sustainable development of agribusiness.
