Since the reform and opening up,Chinese economy has developed rapidly, but the rigidity of social classes in China has become increasingly serious in the past two decades. The gradual slowdown of social class mobility has reduced people’s confidence in social fairness, people’s subjective well-being has not been significantly improved due to economic development. The slowdown of intergenerational occupational mobility is a concentrated manifestation of the solidification of social class. Therefore, the impact of intergenerational occupational mobility on people’s subjective well-being is worthy of in-depth research. There are not many studies on the relationship between the two at home and abroad. Some studies have shown that intergenerational occupational mobility can affect people’s subjective well-being.However,the impact of intergenerational occupational mobility in different directions on subjective wellbeing is heterogeneous, and there are few researches on specific impact mechanisms.Based on this, this thesis deeply explored the impact of intergenerational occupational mobility on residents’ subjective well-being,and attempted to clarify the impact mechanism of intergenerational occupational mobility on residents’ subjective well-being,as well as the effect on different groups,in order to improve the subjective well-being of Chinese residents makes practical policy recommendations. This thesis used the Chinese General Social Survey(CGSS)data as a sample, firstly, the domestic and foreign literatures were sorted out,and the influence mechanism of intergenerational occupational mobility on residents’ subjective well-being was explored from a theoretical perspective;secondly,by introducing the intergenerational occupational mobility matrix, this thesis explored the intergenerational occupational mobility of heterogeneous groups in China, and at the same time analyzed the changing trend of the subjective well-being of Chinese residents and the status quo of the subjective well-being of heterogeneous groups. It is found that there was a certain relationship between intergenerational occupational mobility and residents’ subjective well-being;on this basis,by constructing an Ordered Probit model and using CGSS2017 data,a benchmark regression analysis was conducted on the relationship between intergenerational occupational mobility and residents’ subjective well-being,and the robustness of the benchmark regression results was tested, and then tested the mediating effect of three factors, including individual income inequality, social status mobility expectations, and perceptions of social fairness,to clarify the specific mechanism of the impact of intergenerational occupational mobility on residents’ subjective well-being,At the same time, heterogeneity analysis was carried out on groups with different household registration, groups with different education levels, and groups with different levels of economic development, and explored the impact of intergenerational occupational mobility on the subjective well-being of different groups.Through the above analysis, this thesis draws the following conclusions: First, intergenerational occupational mobility has an impact on residents’ subjective well-being.The greater the degree of intergenerational occupational upward mobility, the more significant the improvement of residents’ subjective well-being.Second,intergenerational occupational upward mobility can increase residents’ subjective well-being by reducing individual income inequality, social status mobility expectations and perceptions of social fairness;on the contrary, intergenerational occupational downward mobility can increase individual income inequality and reduce social status by increasing individual income inequality.Mobility expectations and perceptions of social equity, thereby reducing residents’ subjective well-being.Third,rural household registration groups and those without higher education have more potential for upward mobility between generations. If this potential is released, the subjective well-being of these two groups can be significantly improved.Fourth, the imperfect social system in underdeveloped areas and the solidification of occupational classes in developed areas hinder the impact of intergenerational occupational mobility on residents’ subjective well-being.Based on the above conclusions, this thesis put forward the following policy recommendations: Improve the social primary distribution and redistribution mechanism and narrow the income gap;broaden career mobility channels and provide precise guidance services;reduce the effect of family background and improve the social fair competition mechanism;accelerate the reform of the dual economic system between urban and rural areas and eliminate discrimination in urban and rural household registration;improve the social system in underdeveloped areas and enhance social equity;strengthen social skills training and unleash the potential of career mobility. |
