Abstract/Summary:
The quantification and visualisation of human activity intensity is an important basis for measuring and evaluating the role of human activities on the ecological environment.Exploring the spatial and temporal dynamics of regional human activity intensity and the migration trajectory of the centre of gravity is important for promoting the construction of regional ecological civilization and formulating land use policies. This study is guided by the theory of human-land relationship and sustainable development, relying on land-use data, and takes the Kashgar prefecture,an oasis in the arid zone,as the research object, and quantitatively studies the intensity of human activities in the Kashgar prefecture using a combination of human activity intensity model, spatial autocorrelation and centre of gravity migration model. The intensity of human activity in Kashgar prefecture was firstly calculated by the quantitative human activity intensity model, and then the variation and distribution characteristics of human activity intensity in Kashgar prefecture were analysed from the temporal and spatial perspectives respectively. Finally,on the basis of this analysis, correlation and regression analyses were applied to analyse and evaluate various factors affecting the intensity of human activities in Kashgar prefecture. The results show that:(1)from a temporal perspective, both the equivalent area of construction land and the intensity of human activities in Kashgar prefecture showed a steady growth trend from 2000 to 2020,with the growth trend gradually accelerating;the changes in the intensity of human activities in Kashgar prefecture varied significantly among counties(cities)over the 20-year period, with the areas with large changes mainly located in the northern part of Kashgar prefecture, and the county(city)with the largest change was Kashgar city(In 2000,there was a difference of 15.92%between the county with the highest human activity intensity and the county with the lowest human activity intensity, and by 2020,the difference will be 19.76%.(2)The overall spatial distribution of human activity intensity in Kashgar prefecture shows a spatial structure of high in the north and low in the south, high in the northeast and low in the southwest, with high human activity intensity in the Yarkant and Kashgar River basins in the north of the region, low human activity in the northernmost, southern and western mountainous plateau areas, and low human activity in the Taklamakan Desert region in the east. The spatial distribution of human activity intensity in Kashgar prefecture has changed somewhat over time, and the overall pattern has remained basically stable, with insignificant growth in most regions;(3)spatial autocorrelation indicates that there is a significant correlation between the intensity of human activity in Kashgar prefecture, and the spatial distribution pattern of human activity intensity is unevenly distributed and tends to cluster in space.(3)The spatial autocorrelation shows that there is a significant correlation between the intensity of human activities in Kashgar prefecture and the spatial distribution pattern of human activity intensity is uneven and tends to be spatially clustered. The clustering forms are mainly high-high clustering(HH),low-high clustering(LH)and low-low clustering(LL),and the range of low-high clustering(LH)and low-low clustering(LL)forms is much larger than that of high-high clustering(HH)forms.During the study period, the centre of gravity of both the higher intensity and lower intensity type zones shifted to the northeast, and the centre of gravity of both the medium intensity and lower intensity type zones shifted to the northwest, indicating that the centre of gravity of human activity intensity in Kashgar prefecture developed to the north during the study period, and the centre of gravity of both the higher intensity type zone and the lower intensity type zone showed a larger migration distance, while the centre of gravity of the medium intensity type zone shifted a smaller distance;(5)the intensity of human activity in Kashgar prefecture and its changes are the result of natural factors and the combination of natural and natural factors.Among the natural factors, altitude and slope are closely and negatively correlated with the intensity of human activities, while climatic conditions and water resources have an important influence on the intensity and spatial distribution of human activities in Kashgar prefecture. In terms of human factors, population plays a leading role in the change of human activity intensity, and population density is closely and positively correlated with human activity intensity;economic development has a greater influence on the magnitude and spatial distribution of human activity intensity, and the development of transportation networks has a significant influence on human activity intensity.
