Research On Community Museums In Zhengzhou

At present,China is in the continuous promotion period of new urbanization construction.As a modern city with a long history and rich cultural resources,Zhengzhou has a population urbanization rate of 79.1% by the end of 2021.The construction and development of community museums is conducive to improving the basic level public cultural service system in urban areas,consolidating the new urbanization achievements with people at the core,demonstrating the unique cultural charm of the Central Plains,highlighting the core position of Zhengzhou metropolitan area,and improving the energy level of national central city about Zhengzhou.Community museums refer to museums that located in urban streets and communities and mainly serving residents of nearby communities.They generally include small and medium-sized museums that can reflect regional culture,as well as small village history museums and memorial halls with community characteristics that can play some of the museum’s functions.Now Zhengzhou City has not yet released policy documents and guidance on community museums.There are not many community museums currently operating in the area,most of which are non-state-owned museums and self built museums in sub-districts(towns and townships)and communities,while a few are state-owned museums and industry museums.These grassroots museums based in urban communities generally face issues such as "lack of policy level financial support" and "unclear positioning of community services" in their operation and management,"fixed or updated exhibits with low frequency","high homogeneity" and "low cultural relevance" in their display content,"insufficient online and offline promotion" and "low participation of surrounding community residents" in their social education activities.In the development process of community museums in Zhengzhou,at least three aspects should be taken into consideration simultaneously.Firstly,government departments should improve the development and financial support system for community museums,make reasonable use of cultural resources such as cultural relics protection units and intangible cultural heritage in urban areas,encourage relevant departments,sub-districts,communities,and individuals to build community museums,and steadily increase the number and quality of community museums through methods such as "big museums helping small museums" and "big museums building branch museums";Secondly,community museums should deepen their awareness of community service,guide local residents to participate in operational management work,organize various social activities based on community needs,help residents solve their living problems,improve their quality of life,and strive to become an important force in promoting sustainable development of the community;Finally,community museums should strengthen cooperation with surrounding sub-districts and communities,plan specialized exhibitions for nearby communities,help them create community spirit,make good use of the convenient advantages of new media social platforms and internet groups,strengthen interaction and communication with local residents,and achieve better integration into the community.
