Power amplifiers(PAs)are indispensable parts of modern communication system, and the study of various performance indicators of PAs has always attracted the attention of many researchers. The current communication systems require high efficiency, high linearity, large bandwidth, and large dynamic range for PA design to meet the demand for large data, reliability, and low latency.Improving linearity is usually achieved through analog or digital predistortion techniques. Therefore,it is worth studying how to ensure that PAs meet high efficiency or high back-off efficiency in broadband applications. In broadband applications, the problem is that the low-frequency harmonic and highfrequency harmonic overlap, resulting in repeated impedance that cannot be achieved. The issue arises when the communication signal has a high peak-to-peak power ratio,as the optimal impedance of the PA is distinct between low and high power applications. This article aims to study, improve, and propose different design methods and architectures to solve the above problems.Innovations and main contents of this article are as follows.1.The continuous power amplifier is described, and the design idea of the continuous power amplifier is analyzed in principle. The working principle of continuous crossoctave power amplifier is studied, and the continuous power amplifier and filter prototype analysis method are used.According to the above theory, the simulation and design of cross-octave class F power amplifier are carried out.2.The active load modulation structure is improved, the continuous theoretical power amplifier is introduced into the LMBA architecture, and the phase compensation network is introduced, which changes the original two-input structure into single-input structure, reduces the complexity of the system.3.The impedance transform branch is linked to the output end by the 30 ohm characteristic impedance bridge, thus making broadband matching of the balance circuit power amplifier simpler. The microstrip line’s power capacity is augmented, and the architecture’s reliability is enhanced.Using this design method,a 1.7~2.5 GHz broadband power amplifier with large rollback efficiency is designed. And the processing and testing, the final test results.
