Research On Symbolic Narration Of Short Video Of Local Culture

Local culture is the wisdom crystallization of local society passed down from generation to generation and continues to this day,condensing the common spiritual sustenance of local society.Traditional villages are cultural treasures accumulated by the Chinese nation for thousands of years,and play a crucial role in inheriting,promoting,and developing local culture.Therefore,how to promote and develop the local culture of villages on the basis of protecting traditional villages is a topic that we must answer at present.As the most important content dissemination channel in the era of integrated media,district and county level integrated media centers undertake the important task and mission of disseminating excellent local culture.However,in the era of short video,how to use technological advantages to grasp the needs and preferences of the audience,and explore the restructuring and expression path of local culture,is an urgent issue for the current communication academia and media industry to ponder and solve.Since 2021,the Financial Media Center of Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone has launched our village series of short videos,which are released on video number,Tiktok and other platforms.As of March 2023,the "Our Village" series of short videos had been planned to be released for 14 issues,with a total of over 500000 broadcasts on the entire network,and a total of over 100000 likes,forwards,and comments.This has received a good response and delivered a brilliant answer sheet to promote and inherit local culture.This article takes the series of short videos "Our Village" from the Financial Media Center in Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone as the research object,using theories such as semiotics and narratology as the framework,and using case study methods,text analysis methods,interview methods,and ethnography,to explore the important role of symbolic narration in content construction and text meaning dissemination from three levels: symbolic construction,narrative strategies,and meaning decoding.The entire article follows the idea of "Why should we construct short videos of local culture-How to construct short videos of local culture-What is the significance of constructing short videos of local culture",and analyzes and studies the entire process of symbol construction of the short videos of "Our Village" series.Research has found that the short video series "Our Village" focuses on stimulating the real vitality of local culture and promoting the innovative dissemination and development of local culture in ancient villages.It consciously and comprehensively constructs the local culture of Pingtan ancient village from content to form,reshaping the rural memory in the hearts of the audience.At the content level,the short video is rooted in the distinctive and unique Pingtan regional culture,deeply excavating the highly representative local cultural resources,closely following the development of the times,presenting the local village landscape in combination with audience preferences and needs,and awakening the local cultural memory in the hearts of the public;At the formal level,"Our Village" reconstructs and displays the local culture of different villages in an all-round way by constructing visual symbols represented by scenes,characters,art,and subtitles,as well as auditory symbols dominated by language,music,and sound.In addition,with the help of the research theory of narratology,it is found that "Our Village" achieves the readability of the local culture of ancient villages through the narrative subject strategy of combining internal and external narrators,the narrative perspective strategy of combining omniscient and limited perspectives,the narrative style strategy of combining objective authority and literary poetry,and the narrative structure strategy of combining progressive structure,series structure,and plate connection.At the same time,the short video series "Our Village" also brings many positive values and positive impacts based on the combination of symbols and narration.That is,the video content perfectly restores the natural concept of the unity of heaven and man in local culture,the industrious and simple outlook on life,and the cultural concept of nostalgia,depicting the most simple but quite tranquil rural scroll,and condensing the audience’s local cultural memory;In the process of transmitting the symbolic text and narrative text of "Our Village",it has achieved practical significance to enhance the audience’s sense of interaction and participation,enhance the visibility of local culture,and promote the development of local tourism.Finally,this article summarizes the content production and dissemination of such short videos from the aspects of content,symbols,and narration,and conceives a way to take root in local culture and enhance content value;Improve the symbol system and enhance the viewing experience;Change narrative strategies,highlight flexible discourse and other development paths,with a view to providing reference and reference for other local cultural short video creations.
