Collaborative design is the process by which participants from different backgrounds share their knowledge of the design process and design content,in which they develop a shared understanding in both of these areas to complete the design of a new product. The development has transformed the way in which collaborative design is carried out, especially nowadays, computer supported off-site synchronous and off-site asynchronous collaborative design are readily available. However, while online collaborative design is convenient for users,it also brings with its problems in terms of communication and design performance.Using brain imaging to compare online and offline collaborative design in detail can help to understand the nuisances and to optimize online collaborative design. On the premise of fully understanding the current characteristics of collaborative design, this study proposes an optimization strategy for online collaborative design based on brain imaging technique.Taking the creative phase of collaborative design as an example, this study applies and validates the strategy through experiment, questionnaires and design practices. The exploration of online collaborative design optimization strategy research based on brain imaging technique can be summarized as follows:Firstly,an overview of the current state of research in the field of collaborative design was given, and the concept and characteristics of collaborative design were defined.Through the case study, the current situation of the development form of collaborative design was grasped.By combing the relationship among interface, cognition, behavior, and results in the process of collaborative design, the relationship between each factor was proposed. On this basis,a general stategy of online collaborative design optimization based on brain imaging technique was proposed.Secondly, based on the above strategy, taking the creative phase as an example, this thesis used brain imaging technique to carry out a comparison experiment of online and offline collaborative design, and the experimental results showed the important connection between cognition and outcomes. After that, this thesis made an in-depth discussion on the experimental results and put forward a series of hypotheses, which were verified by questionnaires,so as to integrate the advantages and disadvantages of online and offline collaborative design. Finally, this study summarized the opportunities of online collaborative design optimization from the aspects of function, communication,as well as interaction, and proposed to use mixed reality to support the optimization of online collaborative design. In this thesis, design practices were carried out from two aspects of interfaces and scene.SUS and subjective scale were used to evaluate the design scheme, thus verifying the effectiveness of the proposed strategy. This study adopted a combination of qualitative and quantitative research to propose a online collaborative design optimization strategy based on the brain imaging technoique, from the aspects of interface, cognition, and behavior. At the theoretical level,it provides a methodological reference for scholars conducting reserch on design methods and expanded the scope of design cognition in practice;at the societal level, the proposed strategy can be used to guide companies in optimizing their collaborative design approach to enhance the collaborative deisgn experience and design efficiency of stakeholders.
