With the rapid development of communication technology,the Web2.0 era has given rise to various social media software.People use social media for social communication and entertainment in daily life,and gradually introduce social media into enterprises as a productivity tool to help employees share knowledge,promote multi-person collaboration and communication,reduce repetitive work and improve work performance.Meanwhile,negative behaviors such as work interruption,work interference and social media addiction caused by social media use also have a negative impact on employees’ work.At present,there are only a few studies on the impact of social media use on work performance in domestic academia,and no unified research conclusion has been formed,especially the lack of research results on the impact of social media use on employee performance by integrating work use and social use.In addition,the research on dividing job performance into innovation performance and routine performance,and exploring the mechanism of job engagement and job burnout on employee innovation performance and routine performance in different uses of social media are also relatively weak.Therefore,this paper takes enterprise employees as the research object to discuss the direct effects of different purposes of social media use on employee performance,and studies the specific mechanism of different uses of social media use on employee innovation performance and routine performance by taking job engagement and job burnout as double mediating variables,so as to enrich the relevant research literature on social media use.A total of 304 valid questionnaires were collected in this study.SPSS21.0 and AMOS21.0 software were used to conduct reliability and validity analysis,common bias analysis,correlation analysis,main effect analysis and mediation effect analysis on the collected data,and the following conclusions were drawn:(1)Social media use has a significant positive impact on employees’ work performance,among which social media use based on work purpose and social media use based on social purpose have a significant effect on the improvement of employees’ innovation performance and routine performance;(2)Social media use can improve employees’ job performance by reducing job burnout and promoting job engagement,and the mediating effect of job engagement on social media use and job performance is more significant;(3)The use of social media based on work can improve employees’ innovation performance and routine performance by promoting job engagement and reducing job burnout,among which the improvement of employees’innovation performance is more significant;(4)The use of social media based on social interaction can improve employees’ innovation performance and routine performance by promoting work engagement and reducing job burnout,among which the improvement of employees’ routine performance is more significant.Based on the above conclusions,the corresponding management enlightenment is proposed:(1)enterprises should not only pay attention to the use of social media for work purposes,but also for social purposes;(2)Help enterprises to build efficient social media communication channels and improve employees’work involvement by building strategic transmission channels and knowledge management platforms;(3)Formulate reasonable norms for the use of social media and introduce feedback channels such as tree holes or anonymous voice behavior to reduce the emotional exhaustion of employees;(4)Use social media platforms to publicize corporate cultural activities,establish content communities,and cultivate a harmonious corporate cultural atmosphere.
