With the endless emergence of plastic surgery advertisements, overwhelmed news of cosmetic surgery failures, and the clamor of "appearance comes first",appearance anxiety has become a social issue that has been widely discussed by the public.Related research has shown that there is a correlation between the negative body image of appearance anxiety and social media use.Women who use social media for a long time to watch beautiful pictures or videos are more likely to have appearance anxiety, and the anxiety level is higher. As a result, the author has a question about what kind of face value picture social media shows, and why this picture will have an impact on real life.In view of the seriousness of the anxiety about the appearance of female groups and the complexity of the gender culture behind the anxiety, the author sets the research object as the presentation of female body beauty in social media,in order to spy on the social aesthetics and the motivation behind the formation of aesthetics by presenting the appearance. The introduction part defines the three important concepts "female body beauty","social media" and "self-presentation" involved in the research, focusing on the presentation of women’s external beauty. On the basis of analyzing the media presentation and self-presentation of female image and female body image, the research further pays attention to the presentation characteristics of female body beauty in social media,in order to explore whether and why the standard of female body beauty exists through in-depth appearance.social problem. In terms of research methods, the research uses two qualitative research methods, participatory observation and text analysis, and attempts to explain the body expression behind the text through the analysis of the body, face and style displayed by the visual text.Since the presentation of female body beauty involves multidisciplinary knowledge such as psychology, sociology, aesthetics, and communication, the study adopts an interdisciplinary perspective to comprehensively consider and answer this complex question. The first chapter starts from the presentation of female body beauty on social media. In view of the UGC attributes of social media itself, the presentation of female body beauty on social media can be divided into two aspects: "other-shaped" media presentation and "self-shaped" self-presentation.First of all, from the perspective of "he sculpts",it explores the female body beauty presented by social media represented by Weibo.Secondly, from the perspective of "self-sculpting",the research on the self-presentation of female body beauty in Weibo is carried out.The research selects fashion female Internet celebrities, other types of female Internet celebrities and female ordinary users as research samples, and summarizes the physical aesthetics of female self through the image and text analysis of the sample self-portraits.Finally,by comparing the female body beauty of "he-shaped" and "self-shaped",it is found that the body beauty presented by the two is highly similar. The specific manifestations are: "beautiful with thinness" on the body, the popularity of "net red face" on the face, and the implementation of "pure desire" on the style. The second chapter extends from media presentation to social reality, and exposes the real problems behind the homogenized presentation of body beauty. The homogenized presentation of female body beauty in social media is fundamentally a media mirror, reflecting social reality to a certain extent. The media mirror image is an ideal presentation of physical beauty in reality, reflecting the expectations of society and the female self for physical beauty. This expectation is,in essence,a social aesthetic. Therefore, the homogenized presentation of female body beauty in social media exposes the single aesthetic of social existence and the fact that the female body is disciplined. The existence of aesthetic violence makes the women in it confused, anxious and overwhelmed, falling into the frenzy of body transformation, and gradually losing themselves. The third chapter attempts to explore the causes of the above practical problems,in order to find the crux of the problem and find a solution. The emergence and popularity of a single aesthetic is inseparable from the influence of the social and cultural environment.Economic logic, patriarchal culture, and technical factors work together to make aesthetic standards natural.Visual culture makes body beauty be noticed and needed, consumerism constructs "beauty myth" to strengthen the demand for body transformation, and the purpose of capital regeneration promotes the standardization of body aesthetics. The specific content of the body beauty standard is the result of integrating male aesthetic expectations.Women who have no power in their hands constantly oscillate between resistance and obedience, and eventually become the object of discipline. In addition, the selective presentation of social media and the popularity of beauty technology have also contributed to the standardization of body beauty to some extent. In the fourth chapter, the author puts forward his own thinking on the homogenization of female body beauty, that is,reconstructing the pluralistic female body beauty. The construction of this diverse aesthetic requires the joint efforts of women, society and the media.Women cultivate a sense of subjectivity and firmly believe in self-worth;the media subverts the "beauty myth" and reshapes the real body;society breaks stereotypes and pays attention to women’s values.
