Self-esteem refers to the emotional experience an individual obtains by evaluating his or her own intrinsic value based on self-cognition,which is an important factor affecting children’s physical and mental health(Tao Junyuan,2016)."3-6 years old children’s Learning and Development Guide" clearly put forward to enhance children’s self-esteem and self-confidence.Family is the main place of children’s life, and father is the main body of the family.Father’s participation in parenting plays an irreplaceable role in cultivating children’s self-esteem(Jia Gading et al.,2016;Liu Fang,2019).And good father-child attachment helps children form stable emotions, reduce children’s behavior problems, and achieve good academic performance(Neppl,2019;Xie Ruibo et al.,2021).In the past, there were few empirical studies on the influence of father’s involvement in early childhood rearing and the emotional connection between father and children on children’s self-esteem,and most of them focused on primary and secondary school. In this study, the fathers and teachers of 209 children were investigated by the Father Involvement Parenting Questionnaire, the Father and Son Attachment Questionnaire and the Child Self-esteem Teacher Evaluation Questionnaire, aiming at examining the development status of father involvement in parenting, father and son attachment and self-esteem of children aged 3-6,and exploring the relationship between father involvement in parenting, father and son attachment and self-esteem of children. To understand the predictive effect of paternal involvement in parenting on self-esteem,and the moderating effect of paternal attachment on self-esteem.Try to put forward some targeted suggestions on the basis of the research conclusions,in order to help fathers better participate in family upbringing, enhance parent-child relationship, and develop children’s self-esteem.The results of this study are as follows:(1)Fathers’ participation in parenting is generally above the average level, and there is a significant difference in family income.Specifically, with the increase of family monthly income, the degree of fathers’ participation in parenting is also increasing; There is no significant difference in gender, age, single child or father’s education level.(2)The overall father-son attachment was above the medium level, with the lowest anxiety score and the highest closeness score. There was a significant difference in the level of paternal education in anxious attachment.Specifically, the higher the level of paternal education, the lower the level of anxious attachment.(3)The overall self-esteem of children was above the average level, and the score of self-competence was the lowest. There are significant differences between the dimensions of importance and appearance of self-esteem and the gender of children. There is a significant difference between the self-competence dimension of self-esteem and children’s age.Overall, girls’ self-esteem levels are higher than boys’.(4)There is a significant correlation between father’s involvement in parenting and father’s attachment and children’s self-esteem.The score of father’s involvement in parenting and the four dimensions are significantly positively correlated with the three dimensions of father’s attachment. The four dimensions of father’s involvement in parenting were positively correlated with the sense of self-competence of self-esteem,proximity attachment was positively correlated with the sense of appearance of self-esteem,and soothing attachment was positively correlated with the sense of appearance and sense of self-competence.(5)The total score of paternal involvement in parenting can positively predict children’s self-esteem,and the total score of paternal attachment can also positively predict children’s self-esteem.(6)Paternal attachment plays a moderating role in paternal involvement in parenting and infant self-esteem.According to the current results, corresponding educational suggestions are put forward.
