The General High School Mathematics Curriculum Standards(2017Edition Revised 2020)states that functions are the main thread running through the high school mathematics curriculum,and are also an important and difficult point for students’ high school mathematics learning and teachers’ education and teaching.In the process of learning functions can cultivate good students’ core literacy of mathematical abstraction,logical reasoning,mathematical modeling,intuitive imagination,mathematical operations,etc.,exercise students’ flexible use of mathematical thinking and methods,and pave the way for students’ future learning.Therefore,in order to better help students learn functions,this paper focuses on the teaching and learning of functions,to study the current situation of students’ function learning,to summarize the corresponding countermeasures that can help the teaching and learning of functions,and to provide relevant reference for the study of the current situation of students’ function learning in the first year of high school.Based on the above background and significance of the study,this paper intends to investigate the following questions:(1)The current situation of function learning of senior students.(2)The problems in students’ learning of functions.(3)To propose teaching countermeasures for the function learning of senior students.In this paper,by selecting students in four classes of senior one grade in a secondary level school in Wanzhou district of Chongqing and four mathematics teachers in the class as the research subjects,the above problems were investigated by using literature method,questionnaire survey method,interview method and educational statistics method,and the following main conclusions were drawn.The main problems in the current situation and process of function learning of senior students are:(1)The non-intellectual factors of function learning of senior students: students’ motivation to learn function is not high;students’ interest in learning function is not enough;students’ motivation to learn function is not enough;students have not developed good learning habits.(2)Teachers’ teaching of function learning for senior students: inappropriate teaching methods;too fast teaching pace;inadequate preparation before class.(3)The first-year students’ mastery of function learning: poor understanding and application of function concepts;mastery of function properties needs to be improved;function image graphing ability needs to be strengthened;function applications need to think deeply and strengthen training(4)The first-year students’ intellectual factors of function learning:students’ current cognitive level,perceptual ability,thinking ability,and understanding ability temporarily cannot adapt well to the classroom and keep up with the teacher’s teaching The rhythm;students’ thinking level is still at the level of figurative thinking;students’ function application ability is weak.(5)First-year function knowledge level: the complexity of function knowledge,the abstraction of function knowledge.The factors affecting the function learning of high school students are:(1)Factors of students themselves: students’ enthusiasm for function learning is not high,students’ interest in learning functions is not enough,students’ motivation to learn functions is not enough,and students have not developed good pre-class preparation habits.The student’s thinking level is still at the level of figurative thinking,and the student’s function application ability is weak.(2)Factors in teachers’ teaching: inappropriate teaching methods,too fast pace of teaching,and insufficient preparation before class.(3)Factors at the level of function knowledge: the complexity and abstraction of functions.In view of the above problems,the following five teaching strategies are provided for teacher teaching: stimulate students’ interest in function learning and maintain good learning motivation;Pay attention to students’ mathematical thinking stage and pay attention to the teaching of function concepts;Pay attention to the stage of students’ cognitive level and pay attention to setting gradient exercises;Infiltrate and guide students to pay attention to mathematical thinking and methods in function teaching;Pay attention to the connection of functional knowledge between junior and senior high schools and transform the pace of students’ learning.Provide the following five learning strategies for students’ learning: correct functional learning attitude and develop good learning habits;Insist on thoroughly understanding the teaching materials and take the classroom seriously;Improve the awareness of active learning and pay attention to the cultivation of self-learning ability;Pay attention to the induction of function problem solving strategies to improve learning efficiency;Develop the habit of periodic review and build a knowledge structure system.
